Dear Nepali brothers and sisters fellow countrymen:
You are all aware that Nepal is in a process of remaking itself. Our CA members are touring the nation to gather public opinion, recommendation, and suggestions to shape the new constitution. I write columns for my community daily newspaper, so I had an opportunity to witness one of such events yesterday (March 21). I was skeptical before I went, but after seeing the enthusiasm and opinion of the team leader Amik Sherchan, I am quite positive, that new constitution is going to be different and that there are people who really care. But that is only a part of the solution. Nepal is not going to be reconstructed by foreign aid or foreign countries. WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE THE SOLE ARCHITECT OF NEPAL.
We all can do a little from our own place and position and whatever station in life we are in. I myself spent 14 years in USA and returned to Nepal with a BA and double MA. I have nothing much to gain in life for my own personal pleasure or satisfaction. So I am devoting my life, the next 20 years, to better Nepal one community at a time. I have registered and am operating a non-profit called EduVision Learning Solution, where I offer English, math, science and optional math at a low cost to school kids grade 5-10). The cost is low because we use volunteers who do not demand high payment. They come from local colleges who are doing their +2 and Bachelors. In the two years I have been back in Nepal, I have realized that the science and English classes are particularly of low quality, so I have proposed establishing a computer lab to not only teach kids to use computer, but also expose them to international level of science, math and English with the help of computer software.
I am utilizing what I have learned in USA. So I have proposed a fundraising based on sponsorships through a large number of contributors. The classroom has been reserved (20’x20’) There is a wall outside the classroom (20’x10’) that will be used as s mural. The mural will consist of a wall size Grand Canyon monument, a truly remarkable and awe-inspiring vista. The computer lab will have 100 sponsors who will each contribute (individually or in a group of up to 10) US$ 100/- or its equivalent (in other currencies) . The hundred spots will have pictures, names, addresses and favorite quotes of each contributor. The deadline for fundraising is April 15. For more info, please check the website below.
Let’s realize that Nepal needs us at this critical juncture more than ever and remember what the situation remains in our own part of Nepal (that you have left for the time being). Nothing can be done if we just become cynical and complain about how Nepal is doomed. We cannot continue the attitude and behavior reflecting our apathy and cynicism and expect Nepal to be any different than it is today. You must have heard the apt definition of ‘insanity’ many times. But let me repeat it: Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Should we not leave this ‘insanity’ behind us now and group into constructive contributors, not just someone who bitches?

Put your face on the Grand Canyon sponsorship mural, would you?
