Trance music to me is the epitome of an open mind with the sophistication of vibrancy and energy. I have been listening to it for over 15+ years now - relax I am in my 30's - and it just keeps getting better. Trance also tends to transcend a form of lifestyle, and not necessarily having to spend weekends in Ibiza. There is absolutely nothing like turning up the volume and feeling the moment - the moment of positive melodic vibes and emotions. It has all the elements that make music desirable, and the ability to turn any genre into trance through remixes and synthesizers. I listen to it every opportunity I get. If you have not heard of trance before please be impartial in the way you think of non traditional music - give it a bit of sprititual twist, the places you may hang out for friday night drinks or when you are working out and need the extra encouragement - the official definition is ' temporal altered state of consciousness'.
It is quite rare to find ppl from Nepal listening to it - most probably due to the fact that they never had an opportunity to get to know what trance music really is. Another reason could be that it is not mainstream lyricial music such as pop, rock and R&B. I understand from friends though that KTM has a couple of awesome trance night clubs. Oh and if you grew up in the US, Europe or Australia - I am almost positive you have come across it. I would love to hear from you if you are a fan. Below is a few random samples you might enjoy (ensure the volume is slightly higher, or use noise reduction ear plugs).

"Trance music is very soothing for the soul - I could listen to this music for all of eternity and bask in the vibrant melodies, in complete bliss." -mere mortal trance fan
The first one is 'Strange Love' by Depeche Mode and the second, 'One Way Trip' by Swish. Ignore the visual effects if you wish - but please put on some HD ear plugs or speakers and immerse yourself into the temporal altered state of consiousness...

This past month has been mostly trance and remixes. Somebody in an earlier post mentioned the versatility of trance music and how it can be remixed with other popular songs... I concur.

Mr Hyde - my apologies for removing your post but the song is not anywhere related to trance...George Michael, the epitome of Wham! has always been and probably will always be related to pop. It's possible to have the song remixed into a trance theme though - but your version was not even close.
For those who care for pop and George Michael, the song Mr Hyde posted was 'This Is Not Real Love' 'Fast Love'.

Here comes another one giving me a primer on what trance music is. You got it all wrong my friend; the song I posted was "Fast love" not some "this is not real love" crap. I remember trance music dominated the 90s club scenes and I have seen it first hand. What is your version of the definition of "trance music"? I have found that the definition is not as unfathomable as how to implement a rocket science theory.
In order to earn respect here, you have to be modest and not a condescending fool.

Jadedkt - very nice, melodic and classy lyrics in those songs! Thank you for sharing.
Hopless romantic that I am ... I usually get goose bumps when these lyrics are remixed with the ambience of trance.
We can all relate to this song ... we've all had a few breakups now and then ... and the blues of break-ups are so well expressed in the lyrics ... here it is - Tiësto Close To You (feat. Jan Johnston):

Mr Hyde - welcome aboard - if you are an 80's/90's kid like myself and grew up listening to new wave and electronica - and tried to get into a club when you were 16 by showing your fake id then obviously you know trance.
What I am certain of is that pop and G.M. go hand in hand and your post is clearly a remixed version or an extended version of the original G.M. song...surely it does not have an element of trance. A simple example is an unaltered rhythm in the song, etc.
Thank you for the advice - I will be sure to check my tone of language before I post - I wonder if I offended any other people since I started posting here in 2001.

To me, trance transcends the emotional melancholy apparatus like no other music - the effects of it surpasses even the most tragical plights.
This particular piece reminds me of such emotions - Depeche Mode first sang it in 1984 ... I must have first heard of it 5 years later (holy shit that was 21 yrs ago)...still in my teens and I remember sobbing over it. The lyrics are just out of this world....ignore the religious connotations...make it out to be whatever you want it to be.
Here is a tiny excerpt: "...I don't want to start any blasphemous rumors, but I think that God's got a sick sense of humor, and when I die I expect to find him laughing...".
We all have been through adolescents and growing up is so difficult - even more so if you grew up in a multicultural society where you had to own up to the peer pressure of your liberal and open minded friends but had to eventually face the cultural values of your parents. Balance was the key - and some made it and sadly, some didn't. If you grew up outside of Nepal you will know exactly what I am talking about.
Here it is: Blasphemous Rumours by Depeche Mode (the second one has the lyrics..)

Well like most of the youths in Nepal I grew up listening to rock and metal mostly under influence of friends and brothers. I still remember those days when we used to exchange those records and tapes. Then came the cds and mp3s. Music got cheaper and now it was affordable to try different genres. Exploring music became a sort of hobby of mine. We used to brag about our self collection. My collection consisted of all sorts of genres. Then came the age of internet (at least when I could access online and download stuff). I was overwhelmed by the different kind of music and I got into deeper and I think now I have fairly tried a lot of genres. I have become a fan of trip hops, shoe-gaze rock, acid jazz, post rock, ambient stuffs, trance, jungle, drub and bass...The list is endless. I still think so many people are either stuck with their sterotypes and idols, or are satisfied with the thing listen to. I am not judgemental about them but at least I always craved for variation and new stuff. Well this was my own experience with music.I am still experimenting and I hope the pursuit of happiness and blissfulness you get listening to the sound waves that strike your heart and soul.
Well this was my own experience.
Here is one of my fav trance tracks since this thread started as a trance thread.

deepak5554 - thanks for sharing your views. I accept the fact that not everyone likes this genre of music. And you have the right to be vocal or show dismay of the displeasure - perfectly ok.
syd_acid - having exposure to a variety of music is awesome. Your experiences could not be farther from the truth on how I view the other genres - I certainly do not dislike other kinds of music; more on this later. And thanks for sharing Dreamscape - a good workout song to say the least.
In reality though, music is music. I am a big fan of old Nepali classics - all of Nepathya and a few songs from Deep Shrestha and Narayan Gopal. I also listen to 1974 AD, Robin and the New Revolution and a few Nepali punk bands (Dr Punk?). Growing up though I have pretty much ran into all sorts - I have be-bopped with a friend and gotten into trouble while in middle school impersonating MCA from the Beastie Boys and Dr Dre (a member of NWA back then). There were really hard core underground rap artists called Too Short and Kwame who would just put Eminem to sleep - seriously you would have to hear their lyrics to believe it. I have had a fair share of country music too - Garth Brooks, Hank Williams, Tim McGraw, etc. And the oldies like the Eagles and Jim Morrison. Never got into metal but Van Halen stole a lot of stage time during MTV awards back then. Also a big fan of Carlos Santana - I have never seen anyone play guitar like this guy - ok except maybe Jimi Hendrix. And then there is reggae Mr Marley and the blues great BB King with a mix of Jazz. And lastly but not the least, classical music is ...well pretty classy - have gone to symphony concerts in both San Francisco and Melbourne and it gets your blood pumping given the maestro is good. And then there is quite a bit of newer stuff which I won't bother to name...
I suppose trance has influenced me more than any other music - and as you can see I like to share what I enjoy, hoping Nepali diaspora would also appreciate something different. The abundance variety is one of the big advantages of trance. Anyone can create the music - it just has to be reasonably tasteful. Trance is all about sound, and what you do or what you use to create them are not important - but the sound itself. There is no need to listen to the same song over and over as there are literally hundreds of great artists creating this great music. If it gives you a headache – please by all means feel free to omit the thread.
Here are a few samples from amateurs - the first one is an artist with an awesome tune - see how he just takes control around 6:28. The second one is just plain old trance - I would just love to hear this in my car while driving through Hwy 1 in California or the Great Ocean Road in Melbourne. Ignore the visuals if you wish (although the second has some breathtaking scenery) but you have to put on some nice earplugs or have decent speakers:

syd_acid, I couldn't agree with you more.
At this point in my life, I look at the various genres of music I've phased through and it's a fairly good number. It wasn't until you mentioned it that I realized that music has been with me through these phases of my life and every time I go back to a genre, it brings back old memories. I remember listening to mostly pop music as a teenager, moved on to pop and alternative rock as I grew older.
Sick of the same artists and their commercialized lyrics, started exploring independent artists hoping to find more meaningful diction and compositions.
Moved on to classical compositions by Chopin, Beethoven and Broadway stuff like Rent etc.
Not that I hadn't listened to trance before, but it wasn't until I was at a trance/house/D&B lounge that I really wanted to dig deeper into the genre.
About 80% of my typical day is partially or completely filled with music, don't know what I would do without it. One doesn't have to know how to compose music to appreciate it, I don't want to learn how to compose music but I def want to explore the realms of it.
To add to your opinion about people who are content with being musically consistent, I think it's just the difference in the level of appreciation they have for music in general. I can't imagine listening to the same genre of music, even if it were to be the best thing on earth since sliced bread.

black_panther, welcome aboard and thank you for all the terrific uploads. Engima is, indeed, a classic. You seem like you have been around - when you listen to trance what usually goes through your mind?
Just as a courtesy to others though - can I please ask that you type in normal letter fonts (so that others can enjoy and focus more on your uploads as opposed to the large letters). And I am sure you know that we both like quality as opposed to quantity, right? Oh and if the visuals are less provocative the better - we long for the music not the skin :-)
jadedkt - appreciate your down-to-earth honest commentary. Well said. Variety always wins.
A couple of classics below - the first one is 'Go' from Moby and the second, 'I don't know' from Erika:
