 Hi everyone,

I am graduating this Dec and I had wanted to invite my parents. They had ALL the supporting documents, government job for dad, bank balance, sister studying in college, property etc to establish ties back home and I had a good record in F-1 here too. But still their visa was rejected for no proper reason at all. So far this season I haven't heard any parents getting visa. Is this true? I think if US embassy doesn't want to give visas then they should put up a notice saying that they won't give to graduation attendees instead of wasting people's hard earned money. I am very sad coz I've been looking forward to this day all my life.

I am thinking about making only my mom apply again. Please share if you have had any experience from yourself and/or your relatives/friends this season. If they were able to get it, then it would be a great help to get some advice.

Thanks.

@yahooize
It does not really matter when you arrive to USA as long as the VISA is valid ( as @prankster mentioned - I hope its not a prank)
Just to add another example. I know a couple/family who came to USA:
  • applied and got VISA on late 2008.
  • VISA valid for 5 years.
  • came to USA on late 2011.
