O.K, It's Valentines' day. So? No I do not have anything against the spirit of the DAY, one day (week would be better), where we set aside the time for our (that) ONE person, and neither do I oppose anything that's remotely fun. At this mechanical age, of course we need to tune ourselves to remind us that there is more to life. And life's joy is better when shared especially with .. well THE ONE. No I do not have any dark memories, any poignant tales, or a scar that opens up every valentines'. In fact, few of them have been exceptionally memorable, an odyssey if you will. But, as I try to look back to the years, I remember Valentine's was hardly a "circus" that it is now. It was truly a 'thing' between two people. It's another thing that if I go further back, we had not even heard of anything called Valentines' day :). We hear so much about Valentines' day. 'Any plans?' "What are you getting for HER/Him?" And the next day, "so how was it?" We went to this place and it was blah blah blah...give me a break. I overheard one of my very beautiful female colleague ;), asking another (guy), "aren't you off today? He went, "Why? Why should I be?..What?" :). Then there were (quite) gushing between two colleagues. Apparently one had got something related to the family of diamond or its siblings. And yes, they were FEMALE(s). And no, they were not loud. (As if). Those awwwwwwwwww's and o0o0o0oo's. Darn. I gave them the most radiant smile I had :). As I rushed to work this morning, worried, frustrated for being late (I left her a message) for the 'touch base' meeting with my boss, guess what did I learn after coming to work. SHE is not feeling well :), & most probably she would be off today. Hehehe. A valentine fever perhaps. And there I was, worried that I am late for our so (un)important meeting. Valentines' day is nothing more than a commercialization & is one of the foster children of the capitalist world. It is overstated, over blown and nothing more than mere hype by the commercial industry, to extract every last penny they can, from our hard earned money. And we are like that fish in the abyss, where we can only escape for so long & we all shall be 'caught', eventually. After all, the spaces are scarce, if at all. Would someone please tell me if this day actually help sustain the life of a relationship, or does it in any way makes (already) beautiful relationship more bewitching, or for that matter, mend the relationships already on the rocks? No, really? Isn't today's relationships more like, "I love you, but I'm not in love with you" kind? The hype for this DAY is anything but, grotesque at best. Like one Spanish philosopher said, "We fall in love when our imagination projects nonexistent perfection upon another person. One day, the fantasy evaporates and with it, love dies." Or does it? I leave that for you to decide. But it makes one think for a while. Doesn't it? Frankly, I do not see any reason for this day to be hyped about. It's nothing more than propaganda. Sooner we realize that, better it is. Needless to say that if there are any winners, or for that matter anyone who actually benefits from this great day, are those who has commercial interest in it. But then again, who doesn't? After all there are 'sales' almost everywhere. ;). There in lies an irony:). And with it Valentines' day is here to stay. Happy Valentines' Day. :) IndisGuise:) P.S: It doesn't reflect the view of the writer :), and neither does it imply that writer resents the 'subject'. It was mere avalanche of random thoughts in oblivion.

Wahhhhhhhh, mero lagi prathana??? SAdke jawaaaaaaaaa :)) Hum lutt gayeeeeeeeeeee haa lutt gayeee banauna lagi sakyo ruina tweetie le ;) Kunai bahana hoina, " tii halla haruuu hunnn timile suneka/dekhekaaa, timi bahek mailee kasailai heryaa chainaaaaaa." Long tyam ago, i told ya.. am Raama aka Ram. :) La ta la, malai pani heart bata sochna sikaideu nata . Pleeeeeeeech :P. Tara kasari sochne, heart nai chaina ma sanga. I've given, or rather taken by chomeone ;) hehe --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "But it's really sad when your friends are hanging out with their boyfriends and you're alone (i've been there)." --> ::-((. On the bright side. Down the years, you would 'smile' at remebering those 'pals'. And 'pratikshya' ko 'faal' mitho pani ta huncha ni janavi ;). "And about commercialising this day, isn't every occasion? like a car sale on President's day?" ---> LOL. Car sale in itself is a commercial event. President's day???? Now i have not seen any company/ies, advertising their products or services in any/ all magazine or electronic medias'. And most relevantly, there are no perssure or obligation to be a part of the commercial movement, if any. Ani VL'Day ma nirman lai bhai/dai bhanera chai anyayee nai gareko ho bhanera chai kitera nai bhani dinchu. :). I feel ya Nirman dude. I can empathize with you.:( ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ani Ruina babe, yeah you are chweet. I tasted last nite:p. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Tempting. Yummy ;-), ani sachai padeko ma muri muri dhanye ko baad. :-) In jest, IndisGuise:)

Lau ja... Maile ta car sale and President's Day dekheko... Solly Janavi. :p But still I stand by my THIS statement. "And most relevantly, there are no perssure or obligation to be a part of the commercial movement, if any. " IF, Tyo car sale on president's day is 'common cold', VL'Day ko sale sale sale and obligation, expectation, and 'culture' so to speak is chronic cancer or rather 'Aids'. :p We have to demephitize this. ;-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi chweetie ;). I know i know ur michingme:P. I still have not gotten over last nite's ecstasy:p. Wot about you. Hehe.:) In jest, IndisGuise:)

We should experiment with the every aspect of the western culture and embrace the aspects of western culture that could be useful to us. We can explore the possibilities and opportunities that Valentine day offers to us but for me Valentine day basically made a marginal difference. After all the opportunity for Valentine is like "riding city bus." "If you miss a bus, the next one will show up just around the corner."

Indisguise: On the bright side. Down the years, you would 'smile' at remebering those 'pals'. And 'pratikshya' ko 'faal' mitho pani ta huncha ni janavi ;). Completely agreed. And I remember a friend who gave his girlfriend a rose from the school's garden because he couldn't find a red rose from the florist's. That was the sweetest thing. Just an example of the not a part of the commercial movement.

Hey Indisguise Bro/Sis, I got a job in BOSTON. The job is making + delivering sandwitches & pizzas. The place is called PIZZA 21. I contacted it's owner here in sajhaland (he had started a thread) and pronto I got the replly: U GOT THE JOB. COME IMMEDIATELY. I can't believe it that I got a job without even trying much. During this weekend, I'm driving down there in my 1972 Toyota motor (ekdum vintage). Just pray that it doesn't break down while delivering me to the Pizzaria. yrs truly, Pade-Queen#1 (I'm not a MALE OK!)

"And I remember a friend who gave his girlfriend a rose from the school's garden because he couldn't find a red rose from the florist's." ---> Janavi, LOL. That sounds like the scene from the serial "just Mohabbat" which my sister though very small at the time, used to watch. Hahaha. Sorry. Am not makin fun. I completely concur with you. :) Pratikshya ko faal ta mitho huncha tyo ta manyou but do you have any idea why fruit you want? Apple, orange, banana, papaya, pineapple.. bhogate, lahare aap. Just curios ;) hehe. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PQN1, you could have saved '5 keystrokes' , Just "/sis," was unnecessary.:). I would go as much as saying you could have saved 8 keystrokes. Just Indisguise would suffice. and yeah...Congratulation. Are you planning to "fly" to work eday? Haha. Perhaps i shall holla at ya when i need a ride to boston. Peace. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Apuuuiii indi...kati lekhna sakne????timi manche dherai bolchha ho???patar patargarera...ki lekhne matra??? " ----> Jatti lekheni timi le padne hoina... hehe.. ajai pakkam pukkum machacha chau ni ;) ehehe . And about whether I talk too much or it's just writing, well its for you to 'find' out. ;). Ready for a treasure hunt? :p ehehe Pokchuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu ehehe.. (dalli ko siyau jasto gala samttdai choddaai ani " pokchuu pokchuu pokchuuuu" bhanera . LOL) Hmmmmmmmmmm, interesting. IndisGuise:)

Good one Indi! I read a really funny article in kantipuronline about the impact of valentine's day on KTM students. What struck to me was that most people not only didn't know that this year's valentine's day coincided with THULO Ekadashi, but most of the people also didn't even know what it meant :). oh well! gotta move with time i guess ;) During my last year in highschool, valentine's day coincided with MahaShivaratri, now that was some lethal combo :). Good times good times!

Valentines' day is nothing more than a commercialization & is one of the foster children of the capitalist world. LOL! hahah that is indeed true. But which holiday hasnt been commercialized? Doesnt coke adverstise with its made up commercials on Dashian and Tihar? But, hey, I reside in the U.S.A, Not Nepal, so let me give you my opinion and impact of Valentines day in U.S.A. I see it as a day for those women, who clean houses, do dishes, take care of children, and live in this man dominated society, to get one day off, and get treated like a queen, for at least one day. I think Valentines day has been a appreciation day for love, be it a love from a mom, sisiter or a gf. anywaz good work indi bro, enjoyed it :)

Thanks Confused bro. :) Yes, sad as it may be, dashain and tihar have been commmercialised too. but if we look at the societies or for that matter global societies as a whole, VL'Day certainly is over hyped. " Feri Dashain ra Tihar ko ta afnai mahattwo cha ni hamro lagi" Ki kaso. ( Darn its been ages since i smelled the aroma of Dashain and Tihar. :(. Bhai puja nagareko pani jugau bhaisakyo :(. ) Ra VL'DAY kura jaha samma cha, I think there are few "Kathas" about it. Aba aru ta "Raam janeee, raam janee":) Wahiyaat kura ho yooo, cahine nachaine :). Hamro Nepal ko bharra bhurri harulai yeuta arko nachahindo 'FESHAN' chalya cha. "Kaam dhanda eka tira kumlo boki thimi tira" bhaneko jasto. Religion nai huna ati sakyo yo ta :). La yetro Jawani ma nai buda jasto kura bhayo yo ta. Pugyo malai je sukai hoss aba. IndisGuise:)
