Who had thought that 10yrs of their revolution would end up enlightening the nation and its people? Maoists were the first group of people who brought into agenda the necessity of republic nepal for long term peace and a just society. they were also the first group who raised the importance of CA. the "hijada" political parties would never have thought the necessity and importance of CA, if the maoists had not insisted and showed them the path for it. since maoists saw nepali politics before 10 yrs than others, they certainly are the ultimate pathfinders for nepal and nepali people. The only guardian who can lead the nation through all sorts of rough---MAOISTS. Maoism rocks....!!!! Long live Prachanda, Long live Baburam!!! Maoists fan Loote

IMI, Count me in. I am not for communist republic. Maoist are NOT going for establishing a communist regime. They are lot sharper than you are thinking. They won't let their dominance to be battered by letting the international community go against them. they are visionary and they will settle for anything but communist republic. I am not being judgmental here but you should not be either. let the people decide their fate. I am sure they will rule...not with a communist tag. BUT THEY WILL. LOOTE

OK LOOTE THIS IS WHAT I FEEL FROM INSIDE THOUGH I STATED THAT MAOIST MIGHT RULE.IF MAOIST GO FOR FAIR ELECTION WITH GUNS THEY ARE GOING TO LOOSE.I AM SURE ABOUT THAT.THE THINGS THAT THEY ARE DOING EVEN AFTER PEACE, NEPALESE ARE WATCHING IT BUT NOT SPEAKING AGAINST IT..SO THEY WILL LOOSE THATS WHY THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP WEAPONS. MORE OVER THEY JUST DIDN'T STRUGGLE SUCH A LONG PERIOD OF TIME JUST TO GET 25-35 SEATS IN HOUSE OF DACOITS.THEY ARE NOT THAT KIND OF PEOPLE .THEY SAY NOW THAT THEY ARE SATISFIED BUT THEY ARE NEVER SATIFIED UNTILL THINGS WORK THERE WAY.. SO YES THEY MIGHT TAKE OVER NEPAL IF INCOMPETENT NETAS CAN'T DO ANYTHING BUT NOT BY ELECTION BUT BY FORCE. AND READ MY FUTURE NEPAL PREDICTION THREAD ..I KID U NOT WHAT I WROTE IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN NEPAL. WELL GOOD TO SEE THAT U ARE NOT COMMIE.BUT I KNOW COUPLE IN THIS THREAD.

This is an excerpt from the book "The Road to War" by Richard overy and andrew wheatcroft. This paragraph, taken from the page #194,shows how people's tradition and their lives and livelihood were changed drastically by the Russian Premier Stalin. 'The Question is would the general people of Nepal give his land and his livelihood for the collectivisation??? ' WOULD YOU??? "The second line of attack was on the countryside. In Junuary 1930 Stalin launched the major campaign to collectivise Soviet agriculture, to end the centuries-old system of strip and patch farming with horses and handpower, and to substitute large, rationalised, state-owned farms, with tractor and mechanical reaper. The enterprise was a vast one. Collectivisation confronted the great bulk of the Soviet population with a bleak chice: to abandon the land so hardly won in 1917, and the habits formed from centuries of depredation and hardship, or to stand, bewildered and vulnerable, against the revolutionary storm that broke over them. For some of the peasantry ther was no chice. Stalin had already identified a specific enemy of the revolution in the countryside, the Kuluk, the rich farmer who threatened to bring in capitalism by the rural back door. The kulak (in Russian meaning "fist"- someone who holds on to what he wants) was neither righ by western standards, nor very politically conscious,m nor very numerious. But he was made to stand for the forces of reaction, responsible for backwardness, for wreaking revolutionary prospects. Between 1930 and 1933 an army of Soviet officials and policemen, urged on by the ascendant radicals in the cities, descended on the villages, arresting and deporting anyonewho was deemed to be a kulak. In effect this meant anyonewho resisted the collective farm. Millions fo peasants did do so. They fled to the towns, slaughtered thier livestock, burned thir stocks. A new civil war raged over the Soviet plains as communists exacted a bitter revenge on those who were holding up progress and socialism. It was a messy, almost planless, confrontation, trading on denuncation and envy, investing in ambition and violence. Peasants already forced in collectives turned against those still outside, cut thir teeth on a further round of deportations and excutions. In the three years the Soviet landscape was transformed. Almost all the land area ws collecitivised; millions of peasants died of starvation or in the labour camps sit up for deportees. the industrial proletariat grew from three million to ten milion in seven years as dispossessed young farmers were sent to build the industries of the new industrial cities, Magnitogorsk, Stalingrad, Lugansk."

This one is rather long, so please bear with me. Lootekukur, Your arguments are valid in more ways than one; nonetheless I’d argue it only propagates the angle of the narrator, i.e., you. We have plethora of other problems, all of which can not be solved by mutilation, murder and mayhem. A quick deconstruction on few of your statements: You said, “Maoists don't kill people without any rhyme or reason.†Now who is to determine what reasons/crime/suppression would justify "killing"? Where is the due process, a chance to defend, and an opportunity to live? Having one god in Nepal was hard enough, does your statement justify having 20000 god/desses? As you have put forth quite rightly, we of course do not want to be governed by Nepali Castro, or Kim Jong, or Polpot. Maoist’s action has been subscribing the very observation that they might be able to present us that nightmare. Anything other than their absolute control such that they can bring sweeping "reform" (here I am using reform rather loosely) at their whim would make them use their brutal force, threat; which in turn will coerce the other inept parties to cry foul. Alas that's all they’ll be able to do. It is true that there have been immense suppression and few rightwing fanatics have allowed and participated in pathetic acts. The poor and suppressed could not find justice, and if they did, it was not adequate for the crime exercised against them. I concur. However I would like to ask you that how is it any different, or moreover is it not even gruesome that what it was than before? Now, it is more direct, brutal. Consider this: if Maoists are generous they simply take your home/you have to either live in "Goth" or migrate from the village. If their feet bumps in to something and they are mildly irate then they will only break your leg, hand, and every possible bone in your body that even WWE wrestler would be proud of their expertise. And then there are those who, in their eyes are "bali ko boka" to please their version of KALI and Chandi (Prachanda and Babu rame) and their sacrosanct coterie.

contd: So the recent HOR decision is correct. I am just against the way they put it forth simply because we have to learn how to make our law strong. There has to be a protocol, a due process that should be followed by people’s mandate such that the next government, regardless of how they come to power, can simply nullify it. Jasko sakti usko bhakti huna sadai ramro hundaina. When are we to start setting an example? People, via CA has to determine those major changes, not those corrupt and inept expired and just-there-because-we-have-no-other-choices politicians, who were, until they were stripped from their “kursi†and their “maanmani†- FINE with whatever was. Only and I insist ONLY the national referendum can decide what and how the nation would be run. Else, this vicious cycle of violence with small lemon break would never cease. And at last, you said Prachande and Babu Rame visionary. That is right. You could not have put it any better. Visionary, by definition, is someone who is capable to envision things which are generally not practical and are illusionary. They have a propensity see things perfectly irrespective of how unrealistic it is. Please not, I am not saying that all they have envisioned is imaginary, however their dream to create a red state where they will change the face of Nepal their way and their obduracy to insist that is the only way is being idealism at its best. God forbid if we see things differently. You say they are for multi party democracy? They can not even take minor criticism from an unarmed citizen. Remember Chilwal. Poor guy was just voicing for the very poor people who the sacrosanct Prachande and Baburame’s goons claims to be fighting for. Gyane’s autocracy jailed the voices against him; Maoists will simply put bullet on his/her head. And that, my friend, is also a FACT. Take it or leave it. IndisGuise. P.S: Perhaps on few things we just have to agree to disagree.

[I also agree that the Paras riding that bike with two dozen state guards, murdering, raping and doing whatever that pothead did and was doing has to be brought to account. Every privilege they had has to be stripped, i.e., taxing, placing themunder the law making them accountable for their actions and stopping them from squeezing our hard earned money. I am have always voiced this thing in person simply because I do not believe that anyone by virtue of being born in certain family can just fart and "sheet" and get privileges whereas us, the regular people, have to sweat it out for whatever we have. Only a dumb freak with their brain in their butt would counter against it. ] Okay this was in between my previous post. I wonder why I could not post with this one paragraph.

Bhutrako Maoists rocks... they actually suck big time. Maoist excesses continue; children forced to undergo military training In yet another violation of their commitment not to use children for warfare and follow the ceasefire code of conduct, Maoist have started giving military training to children in Udaypur district. According to The Kathmandu Post daily, Maoists have been giving military training to 350 children of age group 12-16 years in the Bhorleni area of Basaha village development committee (VDC) for the last three days. Parents complained that their children sustained injuries during the forced training. Children from every family in Chaudani, Siddhipur, Babla, Rampur, Basaha, Beltar, Sundarpur and Hadiya VDCs have been forcibly taken to training programme hampering their studies. A report from Sanklhuwasabha said Lok Bahadur Shrestha from Kimalung VDC of Bhojpur district fractured his both legs during the military training forcefully given by the Maoists at Dingla area of Bhojpur recently. Doctors at the district headquarter referred him to Kathmandu for treatment as the case was serious. These incidents came at a time when voices have been raised to declare schools as zones of peace and children out from the shadow of fear. In Chitwan, Maoists have been demanding huge sums of money, in the name of "tax" from timber contractors. According to District Timber Contractors' Association, the rebels have been demanding Rs 150 tax per square feet of timber that was purchased by the contractors from the District Forest Office, Timber Corporation and Community Forest earlier. In yet another incident of Maoist excesses, Maoists have banned VDCs from organizing village council meetings. The meetings called by VDC secretaries of Kogate, Epapanchakanya and Hadikhola had to be cancelled due to the Maoist pressure, the paper adds. In Jhapa, a group of people identifying themselves as Maoists beat up and later abducted owner of Munal Wood Industry, Shiva Upreti from Chandragadhi-6. The group later called Upreti's family and asked for ransom and warned that they will kill Upreti if the family members do not give the money. The whereabouts of Sila Silwal, who was abducted from Khadbari municipality, remains unknown. The family members have appealed for unconditional and safe release of Sila. Meanwhile, locals at Pataura VDC 6 captured a Maoist cadre Rakesh Shreevastav, for allegedly feeling trees inside a community forest in Maila village of the VDC. A group of Maoist cadres and locals clashed over the feeling of trees before they captured the rebel. These incidents come at a time when the rebel leaders are busy in consultation with the diplomats and others in a bid to join peaceful political mainstream. nepalnews.com pb Nov 04 06
