Hello all suitable single guys out there, where do you go to meet your other half? I am in my late 20s and after getting so many pressure from my family, I decided to look for my own Mr. right.
Yeah, I was a little on pressure but I also think this is the time. I am well educated and have a stable job. I am not looking for anyway to change my status. And again, I do not think that should be the only reason to get married.
This is my first time looking for my Mr. Right but I do not know how to start. I checked out neaplmatrimonial.com but somehow it looks like just an extended version of shaadi.com for small audience of Nepal.
So if you think you know something about how to proceed, give me suggestions.
Thanks

This thread is anything but funny.

I can relate to natali1 because I am going through the same situation. Been in USA for over a decade, dated girls of different races, and still in a relationship with an Interracial non-American girl. For about a year or so, I have been getting this pressure from family to get settled down. They are okay with the girl I am currently going out with, but post-Dashain, I have come to realize that my family is important and me, settling down with a non-Nepali girl might not be a great choice for me. During Dashain, there was a family gathering and everyone was talking in Nepali, everyone could relate to the topic of conversation, enjoying Nepali food, and I imagined my current girlfriend sitting there, not knowing what was going on.

That was the point where I realized either I have to totally cut myself off with my family, or find someone who could relate to family conversation. If I didn't have any family around in USA, then I could have settled with my current girlfriend. I had this conversation with my girlfriend and we came to the terms that it is not going to work, since she also values her family. So, I told my family that at this point, I don't think I can find a Nepali girl, go out with her for 2 years before I finally settle down with her. What if we couldn't settle down after two years? My 2 years with her would be a waste. So, I came to the terms that if they could find me a girl, I will happily accept the arranged marriage and settle down. I am just hoping for the best here. There is no guarantee that you will have happy life with the girl you have gone out with for years. There are examples that people are doing famously with the arranged marriage.

So, I told my family to find me a girl, and post Dashain, they are working hard to find me a Nepali girl :), and it's really fun to watch them work. Among the girls they have considered, I narrowed down to a girl from Nepal. She is not the best looking girl, and neither I am the best looking guy, but I have this gut feeling that she is going to be great for me. I have come to the conclusion that I am going to make the most out of whatever happens, since all we can do is hope for the best. I have just initiated conversation with her, and hopefully it will be for the best.

My point is, you go out with a girl for years and years and finally decide to settle down might not be the very good option every time. It's entirely up to you and the one you get married to to make the best out of the marriage. I don't think it really matters if it's love or arranged marriage. At the end of the day, if you can not come to the terms with the one you are married to, or vice versa, everything might fall apart. So, all I think one needs to do is to hope for the best and make the most out of every situation.

(I still don't know what the future holds for me with the girl from Nepal I mentioned. I will let you guys know when I finally hit the squad).

Go Giants! ;)

HAHAHA..well, nice thread...@ least for me

for years i had been trying to find out the definition for ms. right (ms. lootekukurni in my case).  there were times, probably in my late teen years or early 20's, when criteria i was looking for were less demanding in brain department and more sentient in terms of physicality. turned out, there were none to go with in the long run. i befriended some and they were there for some coffee-talk and that's it. end of the story.

as i grew older, i sensed that there is more to a relationship than just a beautiful hair, lovely pair of eyes, a killer smile and an excellent pair of "you know what" so i kinda grew over it, and i was looking for more of a platonic bond that is not adulterated by sensuous desires but is more of a soul-to-soul interaction. basically i was looking for a soul asylum. but again, still there were none to go with in the long run. i befriended some and they were there for some coffee-talk and few interesting brain-storming sessions worth remembrance and that's it. end of the story.

a few hearts were broken on the way due to some unavoidable circumstances but nothing too serious. hearts break but they join for a better cause.

i have now begun to realize that there is nothing like ms. right or ms. wrong. there is only one thing-- right time and it will come regardless of all odds and will sweep you off your feet. that right time will also define the right person for you (mr. right in your terminology). so get ready for that gentle, soothing ride..it can be around the corner. it may be looking at you RIGHT NOW and smiling at your oblivion to his/her presence.

so there, focus on your career coz that's more important and try to hone your skills in the professional front. don't jeopardize your efficiency at work thinking too much about your prospective mr. right. getting to live being single is a blessing not curse. i have seen/found committed people in more agony. so be patient but also be ready for that tickling surprise that's in store with you somewhere. it's just the matter of right time my friend

all the best

oh my dear niece! what you saying? how on earth can i even think of forgetting you? even if i tend to do so, we have your numerous women struggling against male chauvinism in your psycho-thrillers to remind us of the bubbly, childish yet a mature rebel in herself-- my one and only sajha niece --which is you

i am doing okay..hope all is well at your end too

Natali1, hahaha  you ask, "Where to find Mr. Right?"  hahah  Definitely NOT on this site.  Go outside the confines of the internet and look for yourself.  Hate to say this but if you're butt-ugly, then you should be asking for hep in such matters.  If not, then just go out partying/socializing and meet people rather than spend time here on a Saturday night!!  That pretty much sums up why you aren't meeting Mr. Right.

Hyperthread, so you'd prefer trying to solicit a mate here instead of going out and looking for yourself?  Watching too much of that Blind Date show on UPN9??  C'mon, blind dates and internet soliciting are for losers.  I'd go on a blind date only if it was such for the other party (hell, I'd have to see the pic of whom I'm gonna serenade fo' sho).  Lets be honest, no matter how ugly a guy maybe, there is no way in hell that he'd want to mess with a girl as ugle as he is (unless she's super rich).  There, I've pretty much summed up what we guys are after.  And please, if you are a guy save yourself the argument over this as you just need to come outta the closet ASAP.

LOL , I am not saying its totally right. But to someone this might be an easy way out. And I dont watch them Blind dates.  And hell yeah  guys are looking for a better looking girl as compared to themselves.  If I get 6/10 points in look , I would be loking for better than 6/10 in girls. :) and this applies to most of the guys.

I would not rule out sajha or other internet resources as a prospective grounds to find a mate. Everyone has different tastes and aptitudes. Some may prefer to go out and look for a mate. Some may seek arranged marriage. Having to look online for a mate or seeking arrange marriage does not necessarily mean someone is butt ugly. Natali may be a perfectly beautiful girl who does not want to go out and meet guys at a club. Most guys at clubs go there to get laid, and not to look for a bride. Most of the times girls can guide a guy to their preferences. Let's say meet at a night club and play the right cards in subsequent meetings to get him interested in more than just sex and maybe get married later. Although it's not a bad idea, it can be pretty tiring process. Having to filter out many guys and looking out can be pretty time consuming. For a guy, it can be a pretty appealing alternative ie. get to sleep with few girls to find with whom they have better sex. For girls who are not into having one night stands and sleeping with many guys to find the right one, internet might be a better alternative.

One can find out if the other person has similar tastes. Respect, intelligence, sense of humor etc from online interactions, and then take it to the next step. Unlike clubbing or going out where sexuality is important first and the rest follows.

Media has a lot of hand in creating excessive expectation regarding ones partner. There is no such thing as a perfect relationship or a perfect marriage. A perfect marriage is a union where the partners have reached a perfect compromise.

Good luck!

After reading Ratobhaley-jee's well elaborated and similar thoughts, I find mine redundant and inadequate. So deleting it for now.

Good one, Ratobahley-jee.

Bhaley, I believe that sajha or any other discussion forums out there represent the worst resource in finding a soul mate.  I'd rather go with social networking sites instead if not the bar/club/parties or even the house parties where friends often try and fix their other friends up with those who SWIMs (Single Independent Weatlhy Men).  Coming into discussion forums to solicit a mate is unorthodox and for peeps with no friends or no life.  No wonder I bash peeps like rajkpandey and his likes every time their thread comes about.  Also, why start this thread on a Saturday night (instead of using more traditional and proven techniques: meeting people in real life)??  This is insane.  Lastly, no matter where, on the discussion forums, social netowrking sites or the bars, all we men look for is sex.  This is the honest truth and any man who denies this is lying through his teeth.

All in all, no SWIG for you but natali1, you surely are SINBAD (Single Income No Boyfriend Absolutely Desperate).  LMFAO
