Friends,

It was a "video movie" shown on the big screen of Bhrikuti Mandap by a projector. Yes, it is "Saugat".

The quality of the movie was extremely poor. I accepted it solely for the role, not for the quality.

NTV used to air songs from "Video films" on Saturdays and occasionally I used to be a character to be made fun of at my home ! " hera hera hero ko taal. yesto pani hero hunchha." Poor me, didn't know ghaanti herera haad nilnu parchha bhanne kura. All I cared was the big size of the bone.

I do not have a copy of the movie. I did have songs from the movie. However, it is in PAL system. Haven't watched it since I came to the US.

I think I still have fascination for acting. I am not sure about the talent though.

In any case, I miss those Naatak-cinema tira baraalinda ka dinharu. Here is a pic from the Naatak "Romeo Juliet". I played the role of the priest Friar Lawrence.

Thanks for sharing the info on your acting stints back home. Scientist cum actor - very multi-disciplinary credentials you have got there if I may. I hear, they do produce some good plays in Kathmandu nowadays with the Gurukul theatre as the premier locus blazing the trail. Shakespeare, Ibsen, Beckett and Greek classics. I regret not going to any of the productions whilst I was there last in January. I read elsewhere that Naseruddin Shah was in Kathmandu some time ago to star in a play based on Bernard Shaw; he apparently played Shaw and his wife, Stella Campbell - Shaw's muse whom he wrote 'Pygmalion' for. Have seen the film (musical) version of the play - My Fair Lady - starring Audrey Hepburn. Good one. Thanks again.
