I maintain a singleton portfolio. I don't keep more than one position simultaneously. I follow a few stocks but zero in on only one when the time comes. Till now I have been blessed.

@nepalkochoro
not yet but I get around the PDT rule by using different brokers for daytrades...m close to the mark though , cant wait to get there ......capital preservation is my top priority thus the small sizes and the small profits
I am still an amateur to be taking huge sizes and trading rapidly right now ...I have lost my share of money to be honest ...jst taking it one day at a time building it up on the accounts itself and not putting in additional money in ...everyday is a learning experience, the more experience i gather till i reach the mark...the more prepared I will be i guess when the time comes .. thats my gameplan
abt pennystocks...I used to be a big fan until the DTC rule kicked in , Zecco charged me like 500 bucks for trading a non DTC eligible pennystock ..that sucked big time
I still play big mailers and promotions like RAYS , and Bestdamnpennystocks, pennypic etc which are usually DTC eligible
flipped RAYS a couple of times , had it on my watchlist a couple of weeks ago in another thread, but u really gotta know how to work them ...

@eastsidaz I was on singleton rule but I couldn't control my emotions that way. Slightest change in the price downwards used to make my heart go crazy. I later found that with holding multiple stocks/options, I was able to control emotions. At least that how I felt. Each individual has their own strengths/weaknesses.
@tyrannyoflogic I now understand how you are trading. Then you are quite matured in trading world. How much is your core investment and how much have you made yet? This is an optional question. If you don't feel like answering, then completely ignore it. But would really appreciate it if you could share some of your numbers.
@राछस I don't know other if they are working in investment companies, but I am not. In fact I am from completely different field and about trading/investment, I had never imagined about it even in my dreams.

If you are in this thread then chances are you are interested in investing/trading. I have seen lot of visitors in Sajha looking for info to get into investment world as I used to be one of them. Having been travelled the same road I would like to offer my 2 cents here for starters. I would say Yahoo finance, Google finance, cnbc.com would be good place to start. Pick some companies you like and follow them for a while. Look at their historical performance, estimates, P/E ratios, earnings, future plans and compare them to overall industry. I would recommend to start with large cap companies Example Google, Apple, IBM, Exxon Mobile, MacDonald, Pepsi, General Electric coz they are much safer in the volatile market like this. Once you get more comfortable you can move into start ups, small caps and emerging markets where risk are high but reward could be handsome as well. Next step i would recommend is to open an account with discount online brokerage firm such as scottrade.com, optionhouse.com, etrade.com. Check out OPTIONHOUSE.COM, here you can try with virtual money first. Over there try differnt type of sell and buy orders (which I highly recommend, coz I personally have screwed up good chunk of profit when i put wrong kind of sell order) once you feel comfortable, know the basic rules of investing and you think what you are doing you can start investing.
Oh yea! Before investing your real money analyze yourself. Do you want to be a trader or an investor? Personally I like investing than trading, but if opportunity presents itself I am ready to jump in and trade as well.
Hope this helps. Happy investing fellas :)

TTMI for short :
Being bearish for short-term, i was looking few stocks on my scan. Like to share one of them with u all.
TTMI @ 11.01
short at market for agressive play
short below last week low of 10.43 for safe play
target 8.50 for short-term
longer-term, expect to see under 4
Stop out @ 12.00
less risk preference: stop out @ last week high
Risk/Reward ratio approx. 2 to 1
Fundamental reason: decelerating eps
Technical reasons: overbought, failure at gap, weekly price actions and short-term market outlook
Discussions appreciated. Do your own due dilligence.
Happy investing/trading guys

@nepalkochoro lets just say I have done Okay...I have been asked that here in sajha before and well ....I dont know but people find it hard to believe that people are actually making money on stocks. There are people making 20 to 30 K a month daytrading(obviously not me) ..but only a mere 5 percent of people who daytrade survive. Tough Odds!! That was the data someone posted on sajha when I was asked that question in the very beginning. I started with 5 and jst abt lost it all in the beginning...someone should have told me to papertrade to start with. I plan to get to 30 mark first though to get some leverage and cushion before i go all in on the PDT thing. all those aside, futures red abt 60 pnts ..was headed green based on some US data but ...headed down again will be looking to pick up some PKT,XRTX and BRLI at lows today later

Seems like today the market had decided to strangle me. Thank god AAPL came in and saved me. I got busy at work today and didn't get to put close attention to my investments. When I came back later seeing the "walking dead cat" RIMM starting to run, I almost lost my mind. Then I took a look at AMZN (the mighty female warrior) had enough of fighting and had gone to shave its pussy. Things just looked terrible.
Finally i looked at AAPL. It just saved my day. The combined losses from AMZN and RIMM was covered by AAPL. I lost $2.70 today.

@tyrannyoflogic. the dead walking cat got two doses of ecstasy today.got a "buy" rating and launched 2 new phones. Thats why it went up high. Its not that bad though. An upswings like these are good for me lower my average. I will see how its going to perform tomorrow and may buy some more puts. One bad news and its a bulls eye. I hope the mighty female warrior will have completed its pussy shaving by tomorrow and be back with some good news. The after hours prices are low however.
The AAPL & AMZN calls are Apr 2012 at $450 and $230 respectively. The RIMM put is Mar 2012 at $20. Since I am too new in this market, I didn't want time decay to be factor for loss. Also I wanted to ride with holiday rally.
@eastsidaz Looks like you got strangled like I am today. Hang on there buddy.
@guragain what in the world r u talking about?

Guragain, I was not supporting any specific person. I was supporting the constitution of Nepal. I was looking forward to Nepal's future not backward. I wish we had a robust economy so that all Nepalese would have a shot to become prosperous. But looks like it's never gonna happen.
So you lied about me sending you emails and then banned me from commenting. More power to you bro. But please don't spam this thread. This one is for those who believe in the future.

You expect murderer ministers and murderer supporting prime minister to give you a better future, a robust economy for a prosperous Nepal? Are you out of you freaking mind? this is worse than royal regime where few people of royal family were above the law. Now each of those ministers and their familes are going to be above the law. Do you want another bloody revolution to overthrow the maobadis?
Don't sweet talk like maobadis talking about better future, robust economy and prosperous Nepal. That is how maobadis talk.
First and foremost the law has to be upheld. Killing between army and maoist insurgents are different but civillians murder have to be prosecuted otherwise what good are maoists from the royal family who were above the law. Granting pardon to a convicted murderer only shows the mob mentality of maoists. They are a mob and they want to protect their mob even if they are convicted murderer.
You are here living in the US enjoying all the luxuries and rights provided to you by it's legal system and you are supporting the murderers back home who are supposed to be in the government.
Many Nepalis were prepared to move on and give Baburam a chance but he made the same mistake that Gyanendra made when he made an accused murderer a minister. A government that is weak in withholding the laws of the land or a government that inturrupts the process of law and order to save one of their own sends a clear message of mob rule. You are either one of the rulers or just a common citizen.
If you are fine with this, I have nothing more to say to you. Keep on being a hypocrite by enjoying the capitalistic fruits in the US while supporting the Maoist atrocities and murders.
Just stop sweet talking about the great future and admit you are an opportunistic maoist.
