I have called Peaceland and Third Eye Travel agencies for a plane ticket to Nepal. The price they gave me was more than $1600. I have travelled to Nepal once before, about 3 years ago, and I paid only $1300 at that time. Do you guys know if $1600 or more is a normal price these days or are there any other travel agencies I can call to get my ticket? If there are then can you please give me some information.? Thanks.

maha sakti, i dunno when u traveling.. but thaiairways.com itself gave me good pricing.. approx. $1300.00 for JULY-AUG. travel to nepal.. it may differ based on ur travel needs. u know how it works.,,, fly in the middle of week... return on middle.. avoid. friday. early sat. late sunday and early monday.. peak travel time to/from europe etc.. etc... I have used this for sometime now.. esp. for my travel to japan or south-east asia. was a good deal.. sometimes its worth it.. try it... otherwise there are many travel agents happy to take few more of your $$.

mahashakti, i recently bought a ticket from peaceland. 1560 from jfk-hongkong-bkk on cathay pacific. and then, bkk-ktm on thai. it was a bit more expensive than i had hoped, but the cheapest i found. the direct flight from jfk-bkk saves A LOT of money (200-300), but it was all booked for when i needed to travel....i suppose it also depends on where you are travelling from and how many stop-overs you are willing to make....hope you find a cheap ticket!

Saathi Haru: Summer is a holiday season and tickets are expensive. I doubt if anyone can find Thai or other at $1300. Flying via might be an option.

I tried to buy round trip tickets to go to Nepal and the price is above $1625 with Tax ( Omaha to Kathmandu). This is via Thai/United and the route is OMA-DEN-LAX-BKK-KTM with 12 hr transit in Bangkok each way. This seems a little high. I was told that CathayPacific is cheaper but I have to get a HKG visa. Does anyone know how to apply for Hong Kong visa? Is it through mail or you have to go in person?

Freighttrain, I am also trying to go to Nepal this summer. Cathay Pacific is cheaper by around $150 to $200 dollars. I was told that to apply for HK transit visa, it takes around 4-6 weeks. So if you are not in hurry, you can apply for the visa, as for me, I will have to pay $1600+, which is a lot of money, unless someone here has as some suggestion.

maha-sakti, first, where are you flying from? also, have you checked with international airfare consolidators, especially those specializing in asia? consider buying two tickets, if you are not within driving distance of l.a., s.f., seattle, nyc. one domestic roundtrip, one international. just budget in some extra time to ensure smooth connection. also, korean, cathay pacific, china airlines, and austrian are probably your best bets. check the weekly travel sections of your nearest major newspaper (ny times, washington post, l.a. times, etc.) getting a thai transit visa is quick, cheap, and easy, imo. on a separate note, i cannot believe that no one here in sajha has yet come up with a weekly listing of best airfares to nepal...i've certainly suggested it before. sigh...nobody listens to the king no mo'! but i digress....

Guys let us avoid Cathay in protest for the discriminatory transit visa for we Nepalese. Just my few cents, I am not transiting HK with a visa, better travel to Kulalumpur or Singapore, or even India.
