Date : 2006-02-17 Nepal King plans exile: US Embassy expected to evacuate By D. Michael Vandeveer – Reporting from Nepal Kathmandu, 17 February, (Asiantribunbe.com): Nepal remains tense as the 7-Party agitation against the Monarchy gains strength and the Maoist continue to have success on the battle-field. Sources within the Palace report the King and his family are preparing for exile. The recent municipal elections proved to be a rebuff to the Nepalese King Gyanendra and have been denounced by the 7-Party Alliance, the Maoist, the UN and the international community as un-democratic. US Ambassador James Moriarty in a "Town Hall Meeting" for the American community stressed, "the need for maps to everyone’s homes", and promised GPS readings for all homes of US citizens by February 20th. "Things are going to get worse in the coming months so please have your 'go-bag' ready so that you can evacuate in a minutes notice", the Ambassador warned and described the situation in Nepal as , "a mess and getting worse". "The Maoist may take advantage of there being no government, and come in and take it over", cautioned the US Ambassador. The Ambassador said the Maoist are threatening Nepalese employees of the US Government, as well as Nepalese in US funded projects. On February-1, 2005, King Gyanendra suspended all civil and democratic rights in Nepal and has ruled with an iron-fist from the throne. Journalist, peace and trade union activist, representatives of civil-society, and members and supporters of the 7-Party Alliance have been beaten, arrested, brutalized on a daily basis. Human-Rights Organizations and the UN have condemned the Nepalese King and the RNA (Royal Nepalese Army) for crimes against humanity and demanded a return to ‘Constitutional Democracy.’ The US, a major arms supplier, and trainer of the RNA have steadfastly condemned any peace-talks between the Maoist insurgents and the 7-Party Alliance, while paying lip-service to peace. A Senior US military advisor, retired Army Lieutenant General Edwin P. Smith, President of the Honolulu-based Asian Pacific Center for Security Studies was rushed to Kathmandu last month to assess the deteriorating situation. Without US arms and aid the Kingdom would be bankrupt by now. Economist estimated that after June 2006, there will be no possibility of paying monthly salaries to civil-servants and to the 150,000 strong RNA and police. The Maoist has threatened the King with execution for, "crimes against the Nepali people". It is not if, but when King Bir Bikhram Shah will leave the Himalayan Kingdom for exile, the major question is, will the Rana controlled RNA support the New Republic and allow the Maoist to lay down their arms and join the 7-Party Alliance in democratic elections, or will the RNA continue to suppress the democratic aspirations of the Napali people ? - Asian Tribune -

People talk too much about useless topics..... but they always tend to forget one thing. It's not like king G will go exile or Maoists will take over so on and so forth if they peace talks between culprits (King G, Maouist and 7 parties) fail. The next step in Nepal will be Military Rule!! I am sure all the parties involved in Nepal crisis understand this.

In BBC interview, remember Prachanda, when asked about king 's fate in 5 years, saying "He will be crsuhed".... the reality is US is helping Nepal to wipe out the Maoists, and prachanda had been reading hearing words like "crush" and "flush" on those days. So as he was damn angry how Royal Nepal Army is attacking his dear recruits of Maoist, his short temper made him utter those words "He will be Crushed"

Suvachintak! Thanks for your suva chinta for the country and countrymen. But One thing, You have forgotten that your king and your 7-parties were together for the last 12 years fighting the maoist. So it is not a solution and wont be a solution too. You believe or not, the main question is RNA. As long as the army is not loyal to the people, the crisis remains "Jasta ka Tastai".

Guys one thing we should understand. Hawa Nachali pata hallidaina. Even UML and Nepali Congress do not want the King anymore. They are not saying directly it then they will be outlawed. What do you think guys... the King who put Deuba for no reason in Jail for almost year, do not you think he wants to kick Gyane's ass even fore Maoist. Do not forget UML is also a communist party. Their caders wants to see republic Nepal than any other parties. What about young Nepali Congress leader like Gagan Thapa. They are openly advocating republic Nepali in Tundikhel. So, it's matter of months Nepal is going to be a Repulic.

US being security freak as it is; it is trying to prepare itself for the worst possible scenario. If Maoist takeover does happen and US dude dies it will be a disaster to US policy makers. They will spend bunch of money prepare an evacuation plan etc. They will do what they want to do this does not mean much for anyone other than who does not work for the US embassy.

Date : 2006-02-17 US State Department official unaware of US plans to evacuate from Nepal Daya Gamage – US National Correspondent for Asian Tribune Washington, D.C, 17 February (Asiantribune.com): An official from the Press Office of the South Asia Bureau of the United States Department of State in Washington, D.C. told the ‘Asian Tribune’ Bureau in the United States that he was unaware of any plans of the United States embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal withdrawing or evacuating. Asked if he read the story carried in the Online daily ‘Asian Tribune’ dated February 17 captioned “Nepal King plans exile: US Embassy expected to evacuate”, the State Department official, who was reluctant to disclose his name, said “at this moment I am unaware of any information that the US Embassy is planning to evacuate” and said he did not see the story. Asked if he denied the ‘Asian Tribune” story, the press office official said that the only thing he can tell is that he is not aware of any such move by the US diplomats in Kathmandu. The ‘Asian Tribune” however said that in contacting the South Asia Bureau of the State Department, the Online Daily was endeavoring to bring it to the notice of the American government. - Asian Tribune -

hi, Any one of us who has visited www.blog.com.np(has been hacked now) knows who michael v. is.All the time he is online and posts in the blog site and says very blatently that the king should leave the country.Only god knows if he really is for the people or he has some strong left leaning tendencies. And by the way he has no right to say that,Nepal is not his country and if the king is to leave today nothing better is going to happen. Its the Maoists who are the problem, then comes the king. Its them who have given him the weapon to kill democracy and its them who never practice what they preach. Its them who brought nepal to this state from what we were in 1996.Its them who should be killed and sent to exile,KG might have to follow them but thats a second thing. I saw him write something like this, about the king's exile few months back also and nothing happened and if anything is to happen i guess our nepali journalists would know before he does. Seeing the way the parties are quiet these days it is clear that there is some bargaining going on with the king and in matter of weeks i guess something will comeup. Finally I see no sign of maoists being anywhere near the power, all they can do is block the highway and hunt for the people and the security forces who come to clear it.

"The next step in Nepal will be Military Rule!! " Neprikane harule kin na bujhya bhane. There IS military rule in Nepal now. Yes, it can get worse, like Idi Amin or something. But is a military ruled country for last four years.
