Blyton, You should apply. You will be just fine with 69. Don't pay anything to those firms out there. Application process is pretty straightforwad. All you got to do is, download application and enclose supporting documents. I did it by myself and it was very easy. Good luck!

You don't apply on-line. Go to canadian immigration web site (where you calculated the point i.e 69 mentioned above) and skilled workers and print out the form. It will ask you tons of questions about you and your family members and will also require the passport size photo for those (family members) who will be migrating to canada with you. Its a straight forward process and do it on your own . No need to waste your hard earned money to lawyers (no offense to Santosh the great sajah lawyer hehehehe). Good Luck

Blyton, If you are on H1b than you can apply though the new Alberta pilot program. No points required and this process is lot faster than Point system.
To qualify for this pilot program, you must meet the following basic criteria:
- You must be currently working in the United States in one of the following temporary skilled worker visa categories: H-1B, H1-B1, H-1C, E-3
- You must have a minimum of one year of work experience in the United States in one of the qualifying visa categories listed above.
- Your current occupation must be on the AINP Occupations Under Pressure List for the Strategic Recruitment Stream - U.S. Visa Holder Category.
Check this web and see if you qualify.

Be clear about 38-high demand occupations list and then AINP has its own high-demand occupation list. If you are applying as a skilled-worker in Federal category 1, NOC 2171 is not allowed. But that NOC code 2171 is eligible for AINP program though.. provided you meet other criteria of AINP such as H1B etc......
