How about some "Bhai Agra" or "See Alice" for koseli? If "it" gets happy for more than four hours, put a ring (made of real ice) on it.

Get him a telescopic walking stick . or a nightgown . A digital photo frame (+sdcard) could also be a nice gift. They are made to work both 110 and 220 (?) volts so will be no problem pluggin in on the other side. Fill up ur 2 gb sdcard with your good fond pictures (discretion is at your disposal) and send it home, he'll watch it whenever loadshedding is not active. :) Cheers.

Eurybawry loves cash, so should your ajaa. Just like Burger King caption runs "Have it your way!", the benefactor can spend the green whatever he feels like spending on - be it "thar-ra from bhatti" or "dhoop-batti".

dahal ji, I am impressed with your love towards your elders. God bless you. With this, I am contributing my time to write some suggestions. Hope this helps. As rahulvai has said, you don't know her requirements and thing that you buy may not mean much to her. I have bought some goods which I thought would be great for my parents but they were not (Iphone - excellent gift as I throught but they never used it). I am going to Nepal soon and asked my mom what she need. Her answer - what can be better gift than that you yourself is coming. My suggestions: 1. Call her regularly, ask about her health, ask what she eats, ask is there is someone to help her - that mean more than anything and you will also know what she uses or eats most 2. If possible, go to Nepal and visit her. Assuming that your hajurama lives in Chitwan (just assumption), hire a car and take her to Devghat for a comfortable trip. I did this to my grandmother and she always remeber this. 3. Ask what she eats. Send $100 cash so she can use this money to buy fruits, milk etc. We think $100 is nothing but it seriously make difference for them. 4. Send any small gift. I gave a nail cutter to my hajurama. This cost me just $2.5 but was so much for her. It's not important what you give....it's important that you remembered her. 5. Along with $100 send extra $20-30 to your mom asking to buy a dhoti/saree or sandel for your hajurama. Your mom knows exactly what to buy for her. Once again. thanks for remebering your elders...many of us forget to remeber them and don't send things thinking we do not have money now. Remeber, it doesn't matter what you send....main thing is your remebered them.

Hi Dalal, Your thread made me very emotional. You are very lucky that you got a warm love of your grandparents till this age. I was not that lucky to get love and care of my grandparents because my both mom's and Dad's parents died when they were kid. I just saw them in the picture (mama ghar ko hajur buba matra) and rest of them don't have picture since there is no tradition of taking picture at that era. At this moment of life I used to donate money in their name. Recently i did donate money to one very poor kid from Philippines for her surgery in my grand mother name. If i were you, I will always do what "lovealwaysnepal" suggest. In addition to that if you wants to send some things then I would suggest you to buy him a electric bed. I forget the exact name of it but you will find that in walmart. It gives warm as well massage to the back. It is very helpful to senior people as most of them have back problem at this age. It will cost you below $100. Let us know what you will send them and their reaction. Peace, Times

The value of the gift does not matter but what you do matters.

these are some types of people we have. Have no common sense to think which topic is for fun and which is for genuine discussion. Low level mentality....

sighrapatan raja, I have already recommended from my side. In these types of topics, it is necessary to think of your parents and grandparents before making fun of others. Ki kaso? Click here to subscribe to sighrapatan's postings. You will get notification when the users posts in sajha.
