I am finally returning nepal for good. I would like to get some suggestions from sajhiites regarding the goods that are worth buying here and taking home. I think most of the electronics are cheaper here, so are laptops. Any other suggestion? how about jewellery?etc etc. And how does the custom behave in nepal? what are the things that need to be declared?do i need to carry the receipt of everything new? or used ones?how to avoid paying custom unnecessarily? I hope i will get some nice piece of advice.

these days, you can take one set of laptop with you, confirmed. one per person.
so is digital camera, camcorder and etc... one per person, there is no tax for them if you are carrying only 1 set of each.

some of them take more than one digi cam, camcorder, if you just tell them this is a gift from someone else to the relative, make sure, use the permanent marker and write something on the box like " bhai krishna lai" on the cover, that would make them believe and not to tax u on that item.

you can take few watches for yourself and for family. i really dont know how many per person but my dad didnt get any problem where he carried about 6-7 with hem/ per person.

i hope other sajhatis will post more for you..

forget about gift. take sth that u cherish most (O: with the money u have u can buy anything back there.. almost same price @ least for CAMCORDERS and computers

and congratulation for making that bold move of going back HOME FOR GOOD.
