latoboy, How can one work in f1 specially when it has been just few months in US? Did you work immediately when you were here? I am not talking about working illegally hiding from INS.

you guys are stupid or what? how're you gonna maintain your F1 if you don't even know simple things about the status. He will ofcourse sponsor your h1, if approved he will take money out of your salary and let you stay on f1. F1s can also apply for h1s, but better if you're in opt. this is my guess.. there is no other way how they can make f1 work directly... and ofcourse computer related degrees are helpful, but you will be doing some repeated , small project work, for a short duration of time at a time. So they usually train you to work with an application for few weeks /months.. anyone who has a bachelor's degree can handle that...

Ask lot of questions before you sign with these type of consulting guys. I just had a near miss experience with these type of consulting forms. Once you sign up with these, then you will be stuck with them for a long time and it's do or die for yourself not them.... 1. what field you will give training? 2. you will fake resume for 5/7 years experience? 3. Job placement - where do you come? 4. will you pay me while I am in bench? 5. Who will bear the travel cost between job placement? 6. How much do you pay me during so called training? 7. do you hold my document (h1-b approval, i- 94 etc) or not? be very wary of these type of guys... and look on your own for jobs

Agree with GreenMappleTree. These people treat you like "jwain" unless they get you signed in the contract papers. Then you are in trouble. These people falsify your resume to the extent that they write that you hold H1- status (a sufficient condition which, if found to be falsified, makes you elligible for deportation). So if you are IT people looking for Job, CPT or OPT, dont be victim of these so called consulting firms (specially "bhaiyas" are terrible). IT job market is getting better day by day, and you will definitely get job sooner or later with your own skills and abilities.

Hi guys !!! you all seems well established. Let me put my question, coz % am dumb to this immigration rules. I have a company (from my bother recommendation) willing to hire me and willing to sponsor H1 visa. I am currently on f1 and not even 2 months in the US. So, what should be my move? I am Bachelor in IT and currently pursuing IT degree in Oklohama. I dont think I can work on it before 9 months in US or until I am at CPT or OPT. No idea at all, how I gonaa get through this. It would have been easy if I was in OPT/CPT i think. But its just 2 months into my master.

I think if you have already completed your Bachelor degree. You can get H1 and work legally but you cannot maintain 2 status. It has to be either H1 or F1.

I agree with GreenMapleTree to some extent. You should be wary before getting into one of these consulting companies. But you should not stay behind either. Right after college, rarely any company will offer you job unless you get lucky with internships while in college. Companies in states are full of bhaiyas, and 80% of their resumes are falsified. They are the ones who are benefitting the most. Let's not always be cursing bhaiyas.. They are smart and bhaiyas are the ones who are paving the way for us, Nepalese. Bhaiyas could be brutal moneywise, but we can't ignore the fact that we follow their footsteps to better life -- not always but most of the time. Cheers!
