Hi everyone ,
I am a little bit confused on the threads we have had lately for nepalese in US having accidents and friends and family trying to raise funds for help .
I did run into the same circumstance couple of months back , when 3 students were in hit and run in ocean city .I did donate money for help, but yesterday it turns out to be that one of those kids was my friends younger brother and the way i was told indirectly was that they have not received a single penny from the contribution that a lot of people had donated . The cause for which that funds were raised were justified , now was the expense justified on it  ? Where did the money go ? ( In someone's pocket or did it really go to the reason, for the money was raised . I am not sure which organisation or who was doing the fund raiser, but if this thread does go to them, please do post how the money was spent .
The reason for me questioning the whole process is that if the money is not going into the rightful purpose , why are we even raising money for some greedy people who take advantage of other's situation to make some quick , cheap money .I would like to know where the money went , that was raised for the kids in ocean city . If the people can't answer it , then i guess it was a complete fraud and i would like to warn people who do donate money to question each and every plea of help's authenticity .
Now comming back to sunita , my heart goes out to her .I pray that she gets well soon . May god bless her . I did donate money for her , but now i wanna know where the money will be spent and how it will be done . people who are using this forum for help should be kind and sensitive enough to post , where the money was spent and how they used it ( ALL) .
People juss wanted to warn you all , people refrain from frauds who raise money for nepalese in US , but the money never gets to the rightful people , ( the reason what the money was raised for ).

Ask that question before you donate the money .And make sure you donate it to the right people , and not the opportunists that want to take advantage of the situation .

Thats where the various non-profit registered samaj we've set up here should come in in the event of any catastrophe involving Nepalis.  I see all these samaj here in NYC: Gurung samaj, Mustang Samaj, Manang Samaj, Janjati Samaj, Himalayan Buddhist Assocn., Newa samaj, etc who have not established themselves within the educated masses (the ones with access to the internet and students...Sherpa Kyidug has done a phenomenal job in that field though).  Most of these samaj orgs have elected officials who in my mind would rather please the seniors who are already established here for the votes rather than make it easier for the newly arrived and especailly the students (Hats off to all ya'll working a full-time job and yet pursuing that degree).  I feel that these "registered" organizations should be the ones leading the charge especially if it is one of their own peeps (the very peeps whom they are obliged to represent the most).  Once that comes about, fraudulent activities (if any) would be lower too.

Most of the fellas here do such a fund raiser out of having personal ties to the injured/deceased and they do it with a clean heart.  Something may've come up where they weren't able to process the funds to the beneficiary on time, so before we start balming them, lets find out if the other 2 injured in OC received any sort of assistance.  BTW, I gotta ask Sunil Gurung's family to see if the funds collected here were ever received too (the Plymouth, MA incident).  Thanks Nostradamus...With all I've said, I hope the future looks better now!  LOLs

Ty samsara for ur kind response . But i feel u completely missed the point i was reffering too . May be its late and u feeling sleepy . once u wake up , read my post again and see if u find any difference .
And yeah let me add , none of the 3 kids have recieved any financial help from the fund raiser or as a matter of fact from any organisation .
I was basically reffering to the whole scenario ,where the money is raised , but it gets lost somewhere , not sure where . I am juss trying to raise some awarness .I dont appreciate the fact that nepalese trying to cheat nepalese and taking advantage of people who know nothing .
Before i forget !..... the future looks good >>>. So far so good . Hope people are more conscious .
Anyways enough said , i want to keep this thread in the direction where i wanted it to be .Its getting late and i am sleepy .
