Hi Sajha community, Seeking advice from people who recently travelled to Nepal on OPT with expired visa. I am planning to go Nepal after I receive my EAD based on OPT. I already have a job offer, would like go before starting job and after receiving EAD. My concern is what would be the risk to travel with expired visa on OPT. Do you know anyone travelled to Nepal in the similar situation? Your advice is highly appreciated. Thank you.

You can’t travel back to USA with OPT on expired visa. You have to have visa or Advance Parole.

Thanks @ Mangale for your response. That's right, I cannot return back to the US on OPT with expired visa. But, my concern is- would there be any problem to get visa? Is there anyone in the sajha community who travelled to Nepal with expired visa and return back or have you know anyone. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

I would not go for visa interview with OPT . That’s immigrant intent to some extent. At least have graduate I20 in order to apply for F1 visa. Otherwise they will think that you completed your study & you promised to return after the completion of your study.
