I bought a car in an auction but later I found out that the speedometer and odometer was out of order(not working at all). It is a 1996 mitsubishi with 106778 miles on it but now I suspect it has a lot more mileage than it shows. What should I do now..ma ta barbad bhaye ..any suggestions???can I take any legal actions? Thank you guys in advance.

1. bought in auction 2. mitsubishi 3. 1996 4. mile=106778 How much did you paid for it? Is it around 1000-1500? If so then instead of seeking legal action (don't waste your time and money) drive till it runs and trash it. Sorry bro I am not trying to humiliate you but its a fact.

H1B bro..I understand what u trying to say....the advice that u gave to me had infact crossed my mind...but I feel cheated. They sold it saying that it had 106K odd miles but now i suspect it might have run 200K+ miles. Is it fair? regarding humiliation.. i dont feel at all.. actually I drive 2009 honda civic for myself .I bought that car for a brother of mine who is pretty new here....

You can not take any legal actions against the seller because the car must have been handed to you as "AS IS NO WARRANTY". You could have taken some steps if the speedometer had been tampered or altered but I don't think so; it should have just been out of order. Chill out, drive the car as long as it runs... last ghotnu parchha tyo missibisi lai, la nepal bata aayeka bhai bahini lai sikna ta sadhai kaam lagchha ni...

you should be able to take some legal action. Cuz " as is" means, milage as of 106 k , which is a misrepresentation... is it from a dealer or a private party? tell them you want to return the car, let's see what happens

You can definitely take legal action. Go to your local district court and file a suit. But, first talk to them and let them know that unless they return your money back, you'll sue them. They might just give you the money. Companies don't like being sued coz it damages their image and creditworthiness. So try it, and if they don't return the money back, sue them. Don't worry, you can recover your money + extra money as punitive costs. You can definitely recover all your legal fees. I am confident coz the thing they did was illegal. it is not an excuise to say, "we didn't know." You definitely have an upper hand.
