Hi All,

I have been working in IT field as a contractor for about 2 years now and I am in H1B now. My employer is offering me Full time position. But My concern is that My resume was not legit when i applied for the position as a contractor. Its been about 18 months i ve been working for this company.

So when i apply for full time, Should i use my real resume or the resume i used as a contractor ? I am afraid i might get into problem either way.

please suggest me.

Its your own personal decision and is also dependent upon your relationship to your manager .
Research if someone has been hired from a contractor to full time job. Have ONLY one real honest friend in your office with whom you can share your situation. If you cant find one then please dont share it with them. DOnt get scared and dont have a feeling that your company is doing you a big favor despite of your resume. Stand still/firm , ask for the benefits, PTO's etc.

I was  also in a similar situation as yours.

• worked as contractor for around 12-13 months ( IT field).
• company offered me a full time position.
• used my real resume
• i had good impression at my workplace. NO one really cared about my resume. The only person that knows your resume would be your Manager and your interviewer. Its fine as long as the company needs you and wants you to get the job done. Normally its a formality and is a part of a process.
  
• Long run: It will help you to move forward and even in your green card process later.
  
• Even after your full time offer, please dont disclose your resume to other colleagues.

use your original resume as it will be used for your h1b processing as well and most of time your resume will NOT go to your manager, it will be sent to HR department. i have few friends who did that and didnt have any issue...and they are fulltime employee now. I suggest use your original resume or if you think you will be in trouble or if there a history of such situation at your company....... keep on working as a consultant... your choice...

Kiddo,Not sure what is your problem but I have seen you are pretty harsh to those people who are doing contracting with fake resume. Why is that? They have to go through those route becuase they couldn't find job with their real resume.I am just curious to know what your suggestion would be if they simply can't find a job?. Blame companies who are destroying this industry not these candidates.
