iZen: Are you sure that he came on Student exchange program? ha ha..... student exchange ... is that political student exchange? There must be distinction between terms like "student" "political student" "student leader" Gagan Thapa is projected as "Student Leader" of the faction whose mother is NC (Political Party) everywhere in Nepal. Here comes Gagan in USA and says that he is NO LEADER, are you going to believe him? And he gives speech on political field here... Had he been a political student, then he would have analyzed the political situation in Nepal... but obviously he was not doing that..watch out his hand actions why delievering that lecture!!!!! He was acting big as A LEADER!!!!!!!! C'mon guys, there is something wrong with this guy... !!

pren dai--to give an effective speech hand gesture is very important. bill clinton kerry they all do it, i was just wondering wht u have done so far for nepal. at least he is trying to do something. he IS a big leader he doesnt need to try to act like one. people go on protest when he goes to jail he is talked abt all over from usa to nepal to india to everywhere. did u go to his debate u should and tell abt ur opinion and wht u think to him so that maybe he can take some of ur whatever ideas. I still dont understand wht ur real problem with gagan is. u just seem to be against him without any type of reason it seems like personal. u seem very passionate abt wht u say but wht u say doesnt really make sense most of the time.

Of course he is a leader and he is the choosen one. At least he is fighting for nepalese future keeping his life in front of death. He knows the consequences of fighting back with king means inviting death toward to him. Country, where Madan bhandari and king Birendra was killed, Gagan can be another one if he raises his hand. Why he doing this?? for us, For nepali and nepal's future. He needs some support and what we can do? just support him.. we are not fighting back like he is doing... why we being cheap to support him?? It does not matter what kind of political theory we believe in, its good to support him instead of backbiting about him. I, myself supported UML but it does not mean I have to be anti of NC. Always support the leader who seems best to the leader of nation not the party. who knows the futute?? No one!! If you think gagan might be the best leader for the nation, let him try it, support him and give the chance. Iif they dont do good, dump them, coz he is fighting for Loktantra and where we can decide whether we want him to be our leader or not. Thanks..!!! (Just my personal opinion)

OK, is this the Gagan Thapa, student leader of union affiliated to NC, whose testicles were crushed while he was under the Gyane's custody? !! People say that Girija had pact with Gyane, and Gagan was arrested. While others say that Gagan was planted into NC's student union by King G. Do you guys jknow anything more?

Good for "thaha" Gagn is newly/accidentally made leader. May be he is still taking time to be strong enough to call himself as a responsible leader.

I agree on one fact that we need a new leader. We should not be that desparate that let anybody be our leader. Gagan if he shows potentail, he might be the right one. But still there are issues. Following the democratic norms. He gotta stop the forced closures. Be more critical aboot Girja. Mrginalize the fakes. But questions remains? 1. Republic - How he can ensure its not maoits republic? What is the base for negatiation with them? 2. How he wil convince the king to give up his thrown without bloodshed. Atlast, he wants to represent Nepalese. So, Nepalese has every rights to question his moves. Its just natural for me to be skeptical regarding the leaders cause not a single leader has kept his promises. I think the time now for is to work for peace rather than a republic. Let the democracy and peace prevail first. The real one.

There you go highfly, the issue shoudl be PEACE not republic at this juncture. These buggers could not bring ensure PEACE to the people of Nepal (diplomatically or strategically - that's what they are for, aren't they?), and they are now giving dream of REPUBLIC instead of PEACE which will lead to more bloodshed in Nepal.

Why are we still caught up with this might-worship or popular culture endorser mentality?Today Gagan tomorrow somebody else. The question of monarchy's end is where we should focus at this point.May it be a referandum or a non-violent social revolution our aim should be directed towards ending the monarchy. The institution of kingship in Nepal is the most significant factor in creating the hostilities between the common Nepalese and the maoists.Afterall maoists are Nepalese too instead of bringing them into mainstream of Nepalese politics both the king and the so called democratic forces for their selfish reasons contributed to this devastation.Unless we people get rid of both the despotic monarchy and immoral political parties maoists will never say farewell to their arms.Who are maoists?Try to put yourself in their shoes and try to walk in those rough alleys where the cruelty of monarch's army and corrupt minds of political party workers has crossed the limits of human indecency.

The thing how do u get rid of monarchy? Do u think that king will let go the crown? Be real. Its matter of who is gonna bell the cat. So, we gotta come up with the solution which is acceptable to all the groups in the conflict. The peace is the need right now. Lets all work on that. Other thing, do not you think all these players are playing each others. I am kinda guessing that there is constant interaction between parties, maosits and the royals.

Forgot 'bout this one... aight here's ma 2cent(not fitty) he he Izen,"I think america will be in the verge of collapse by then." For that very reason they want to keep tabs so they don't lose that edge. Remember the Spy plane showdown between US and China during Dubya's early days in office ? ".And I think economic power not the military power will be a decisive factor on the world affais in the years to come." It already is, who do you think is paying for Katerina and Rita's recovery(Ummmm....China) ? Just look at how much $$ Us owes toother countries---> 1994 Japan 230, United Kingdom 168, Germany 68, Canada 58, Switzerland 57, Middle East Oil Exporters 45, British West Indies 37, Taiwan 35, Singapore 34, Belgium 32, Rest of World 319, Unknown 161, Total 1,244 Billions. I remember a coment made by Cigar Bill Clinton that people should contribute as much as possible for the relief fund so that the Govt does not become too dependent in forein debt(ie Borrowing $$$ from China). As far as China not having big middle class in its current enviroment ?Yes but the future cuase Rome was not built in one day. But lets just focus on US interest in the region first. Chinese dominance short lived ? he he That is for us to see in the future. You talk like a soothsayer how do you know ?

A lot of other nepali politicians are also making a piligrimage to Boston next week. But, sadly their presence is not going to evoke a wave of mass hysteria in the nepali community here as it is creating in the case of Gagan Thapa.

Hey B'room bro, I am not a soothsayer. But you can sometimes predict the political future by closely observing the political present.China doesn't seem to have a good future in a long term because of their population establishment. The gap seem to loom large in the future between the upper class and the lower class.American empire is in its last days of aggression. The failure in Iraq will be the their main factor in american downfall. And like you have mentioned about american borrowing money from all the other nations this has been there for a long period of time.Americans consume more than they produce. You probably are familiar with the 6-35 theory that states six percent of american using thirty five percent of world's resources. Well, all I have to say at this point is their karma. Remember how empires crumbled in the past.Hence we can't yet say capitalist ideas has triumphed after all.

It's not pilgrimage... Jimmy Carter has one foundation which deals with negotiations. His foundation did that for Sudan and they got success (not 100%). Al those nepali leaders (Gyane's , Political Parties, and Maoists, perhaps student leaders like Gagan as well) have been invited by tath Carter's foundation to solve Nepal's crisis by negotiation!!!
