Does anybody know cure for sinus infection? I have tried yoga, all kind of decongestion medicine, nasal spray, steroid shots and allergy shots here in US. I also had a surgery few years ago. That did not help at all. I take antibioatic every 3 months because of sinus infection. I heard that there is some kind of herbal medicine in Nepal for sinus. Does anybody know where to get it?

Like towellie said, try Ramdev. I beleive that particular practice is called "Anilom Vilom" and according to the practitioners of pranayam, it is supposed to regulate air flow in the respiratpory tract. Not sure if it really works, but might provide symptomatic relief, at the very least :)

Hi There, Apparentely You have chronic sinusitis.Usually it is due to infection some time there might be Permanent mucosal lining which is difficult to cure. If you are having facial pain , post nasal drip, malodorous breath, headache and more pain in bending over these are symptoms of chronic sinusitis. If it is more frequent you need to make sure there are not any underlying condition , Sometime it can be confused with migraine. If the condition is chronic it is better to have bacterial, viral and fungal culture from nasal specimen. Special sinus xrays and CT scan ofsinuses will be of great help.Antibiotics are usually good only for short term relief, nasal steroid and daily nasal irrigation will really help for chronic sinusitis. Allergy medicines are shown to be ineffective for chronic sinusitis. If nothing helps you might need endoscopic sinus surgery. If you are really looking for some alternative things and need PINAS KO KATHA , let me know I will post one. Thanks

Phatte, I would suggest some of the things suggested in this post already. Sinusitis can be caused by bacterial, viral or fungal causes. I would highly recommend you research for best ENT specialist in your area and start a thorough treatment procedure. Chronic sinusities is a maintainable condition like HBP and Diabetes. If you have tried everything alternative medicines are herbal and homeopathy. For me taking just pure steam from water(without any vicks or menthol ) during the times when it causes most trouble helped me a lot much better than any other medication. I am sorry to hear your condition Phatte but don't loose heart. If you don't exercise, now is a real good time to get into some aerobic type exercise and running is excellent. Among many benefits of exercise, for sinus it improves immune system and opens up the nasal passage. But please remember that before starting any exercise, it is very important to get with your family doctor first who will give you details on what kind of exercise you can perform. Good Luck and please post your progress with "pinas ko katha" or some of the suggesstions I posted here. Get Well Soon Rev

Last year, I tried this 'niti' thing, and it worked for me. Here's how it's done (and I am writing this like I am explaing this whole thing to a five year old . . . yes, I just re-watched the movie 'philadeplhia', in which this Denzel Washington character says, again and again, "explain that to me like I am five years old.' . . so you know where the influence has come from :-) PREPARATIONS: 1. Go to Patan. 2. Order a small plain-style brass/copper karuwa. 3. Bring that Karuwa home. ACTION PART 1: (location: Kitchen table top) 4. Put lukewarm water into the karuwa. 5. Add some salt. 6. Stir ACTION PART 2: (location: You are standing over the basin in your bathroom) 7.Tilt your head to the left while holding the filled-with-water karuwa (refer to 4, 5 and 6 above) in your right hand. 8. Put the snout of the karuwa into your upper nostril 9. Let the water from the karuwa go deep into your nostril. 10. Initially, because of congestion, nothing will happen. You will look foolish. But do not despair: It is better to look like a fool in the privacy of your bathroom than to suffer through sinus in public. 11. If 10 happens again and again do not worry. 12. Repeat 7 through 11 by tilting your head the other side, and putting the snout on the other nostril. 13. Eventually, the marriage of water and gravity will work: all your clogged and frozen mucus and its cousins will be swept away . . . HABIT 13. If you do this a few times for several days, water will start -- initially dripping out but eventually flowing out of your respective nostrils . . . but at times some water will seep into your throat . . . Remember, ENT -- ear, nose and throat -- they are all connected to one another. 14. sticking to this habit can be difficult -- but doing this regularly is the only way you can make your nose whistle in happiness. :-) 15. Try it, but remember what worked for me might not work for you. after all, different noses require different poses . . . Hope this helps oohi "hopefully 'former' sinus-pidit" ashu

hello phatte, if you are sufferring from sinus the best natural medicine is to go for long walks in the beach. the coastal weather and the climate seems to help sinus, allergy, menapause and lots of the sicknes. depending where you live i hope you are able to get to the beach. when i was in the beach my hot flashes never came, helped my sinus but once i got back to the city all of the above came back. good luck

to get rid of pimples one needs to drink lots of water, plenty of fiber in your diet. green tea and once a week you need to mask your face. always wash your face before you go to bed, do not ever break the pimple. do not share your towels with others at it can get very contagious. use a good source of moistures depending on your skin. good luck

आशु is right.

Phatte, I am sorry to know that you are having problem with Sinus. My cousin had sinus problem in US and he had to use nasal spray and so many anti-allergy medication. My cousin's friend told him about a product called Isotonix. And he used the product and after two weeks he got rid of Sinus. Actually the product is super Anti-oxidant product made with bilberry extract (pycnogenol), grape fruit extract, red wine extract and citrusy extract and it is good for allergy, ashtma and moreover for your overall optimal health. This natural product is in powder form and just you have to mix with water and have to drink in empty stomach every morning. Try this product it may help you as my cousin got new life. It cost $28.95 for one month supply but if you really want it I could get it in discount for you. If you want to try then contact me at ryajenn@yahoo.com I want to help you out. Phatte, Please try this recipe, it will definately work coz. its natural: (Ashu, I like your 5 yr. old style man :) TOMATO TEA RECIPE 2 cups V8 Juice 2-3 cloves Garlic crushed (use more if you can) 2 T Lemon Juice Hot Sauce (the more the better, so as much as you can handle) Mix and heat in a pan or in the microwave. Sip slowly and re-warm as needed to get the full effects of the fumes. Let it sit in the back of your throat to bathe it. Suck the fumes through your sinuses and also down into your lungs. Its all natural and healthy, so drink as much of it as you want or need until you are SURE the infection is gone. This is past the time when you "feel better." This appears to be the best recipe, but from the comments, people often don't have the right ingredients. Don't let that hold you back. Use whatever you have available. Below are some substitutes that may not work as well or as fast, but will still help. I've listed them by their likely effectiveness: Substitutes: V8 Juice - tomato juice, vegetable juice, canned or fresh tomatoes crushed, tomato soup (if really desperate, try another kind of fruit juice, vegetable soup or even chicken soup . you're aiming for high Vit C content) Garlic - garlic in olive oil, dehydrated garlic, garlic salt (aiming for the strong anti-bacterial/fungal effects) Lemon Juice - Fresh lemons, bottled juice, limes, lime juice, oranges, frozen lemonade Hot Sauce - ANY kind of hot sauce works, fresh hot peppers, cayenne pepper, dried pepper flakes (if really desperate, try horseradish, black pepper or even mustard . you're aiming for the highly anti-bacterial/fungal properties of capricin which is found in hot peppers, and its effectiveness at clearing out the sinuses.) Notes: 1. Capricin (found in hot peppers) is actually soothing to the stomach. In addition, it's a pain killer (good for sore throats), and is also one of the main ingredients used in herbal recipes for killing fungal infections like Candida, which is closely related to all kinds of physical problems we have, including allergies. Excellent candida test: http://www.mall-net.com/cgibin/quiz4.cgi?quiz=crook.qa. Interesting fungus killing pages: http://www.mall-net.com/mcs/afung.html http://www.mall-net.com/mcs/#Treat. 2. You can add Worcestershire sauce and celery salt to make it taste just like a bloody mary mix. 3. Drink it just because it tastes good, and you probably won't get an infection in the first place. :)" Source: http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/tomato_tea.html

Well...I too had sinus problem when i was back in nepal...i had two surgeries...the first one was in 2002 and the second one was in 2004...both in teaching hospital maharajgunj...well after i came to US...i am not having problems anymore...before that i tried everything from ayurvedic medicines, yoga, nasal sprays, medications etc...but ultimately i had to go to the doctor...and surgery was my last option...but it worked out well...and it didnt cost me more than six thousand rupees for the surgery (if u are price conscious)...so i would recommend u to have surgery in nepal...go to teaching hospital (ENT department) and go for it...good luck

HI guys,
I have sinus problem right from my childhood and I even did surgery around 15 years back. It worked fine for few years and again the same problem. It became even more acute when I came to US. I went to the sinus specialist last year and did CTSCAN and diagonised inverted papiloma sinus. Its highly an allergetic sinus symptoms. He did surgery and it seems like working fine for another 6 months but nothing much cured. I am always running nose. I am taking sinus immunotherpy injection every three weeks period and feeling better. In addition, I am doing sinus ringe twice daily and feeling better.
For those who has sinus problem, it could be an allergy. So, go for allergy test and try sinus ringe 2-3 times daily. and its easy. For the sinus ringe, you can buy from here: http://www.neilmed.com/usa/index.php
Thanks

Punya Singh, I started this thread and I received many valuable suggestions from the Sajha members. Sajha members were very generous back then :). I really appereciate Sajha members for their comments and suggestions. Anyway, I had one surgery almost 8 years ago (in USA), and it did not work for my sinus problem. Few years ago, I started drinking lots of water (almost 16 cups a day) and started hitting the gym regularly. I would say, my sinus is not 100% cured but I don't have that much of Sinus problem. Water worked for me and it might help you too. Good luck! -Phatte
