Sleepyspur, Marbury and KG to the finals re??? Make the playoffs first...They got killed back then (during their prime), what makes you think they could take on the more elite teams in the East?? Also, who's gonna take the Knicks inflated salaries (thats what I was getting at here...c'mon everyone knows the 101s of trading players)?? Who in the right mind would take a Crawford and a Curry for Garnett?? Knicks stand to lose a lot (first round drafts, salary buyouts, etc.) just as what happened with LJ, Houston, Jalen Rose, etc.

this is just speculation... plus crawford and curry is not a bad deal... since they get two young players.. and especially curry... people thing he s valuable coz he has size and can score.... the 3 yrs that marbury played in minnesota, that happend to be the time when the west was just over-powering... the 3rd year they did lose in the first round... to the eventual champs...

its an open secret that the east was always shallow in the post-mj era... and it still is...

dont tell me a team with marbury and garnett in the east cant make the playoffs... or even the finals...
their only tough task would be detroit... but we all know what garnet has been doing to webber during c-webb's time in sacramento... sorry, i digress... but i hope my point is clearer.... finals is a stretch.... but conference finals would b a GUARANTEE

Sleepyspur, all I can say is for an NY team to make the finals, they would have to move the wholr org atleast three hours away from the city. As per my earlier post: "The NY way of life: partying and night-life, negatively correlates to their NBA performance."

However, you say that mediocre players like Crawford and Curry for superstar Garnett is a good deal??? Minnesota is gonna ask much much more than that and ultimately the Knick are gonna end up with a bigger payroll than before!

Fuchey haru --- still dont make sense!!! Learn my friends Learn!!
Knicks payroll will go down significantly from next season. As you know Houston Retire- and his deal will retire this year, Rose got bought out and contract expired, francis will be traded or bought out. from 120M to 80M. its 40M savings - you can even try to get Shaq wit that, Shaq might get traded soon or later.
again listen to the pro!!!

Samsarey moola --- ta bacha chas kya --- it will take sometime to grow up buddy

thanks

Well, its ok to justify your logic Beltran, but give me one good free agent signing/trade that has happened under Issah's rule in New York.....It's the Issah Thomas curse....where ever he goes, he brings the franchise down...haven't we seen this before?? From CBA to Indiana Pacers, and now the Knicks......Granted he was a great player and all that, but he is a below average GM/Coach...Oh, you can have Shaq.....I heard Mavs might be in the mix for Shaq.....Unfortunate but this Shaq guy keeps milking on his performance 4 years ago....haven't done much lately....

Bel-tranny paakhay, as Houston said earlier, YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT! hahahah Your so called profound "Pro" knowledge makes no sense now. You're saying Knicks could get Shaq?? hahaha Ok, we get KG, Shaq, and who?? another free agent, VInce Carter?? Damn, you're saying as though the entire All Star team is gonna be here playing for the Knicerbockers next year!! All I can say is your analysis SUCKS BIG time!! I've had enough of arguing that KG coming to the Knicks would be the worst decision ever. And yeah, Get a life instead of calling yourself a pro. You listen to the Pros and you WISH you could be like them! hahahahhaha

KG to NYK? Why would McHale want to trade the only best thing that you have??? McHale should ask to include Curry, Balkman, D. Lee, C. Frye and Q for KG and Blount :=)

I can only see NYK competing after 09 season if they don't trade for long term salary..... Dolan needs to sell the team to the true Knicks fan(s)..... The best city in the world deserves better NBA team.

someone here seems to know alot more about Knick....what was the Knicks 06-07 season luxury tax? and what's the salary cap for the 07-08 season?

AX, Dolan's not gonna sell the Knicks (I'd love for him to sell it to a true fan as you said). Instead the idiot's been bidding on the Yankees too! He's trying to get Cablevision to be one major player like the other Giants once they get both Knicks and yankee rights!! BTW, $44 MILL in luxury tax for the 2006-07 season!

beltran, i thought u knew what u were talking about....
again, i gotta explain everything... why dont u look up wikipedia or something...
the reason they bought out houston, jalen rose, etc... is because their salary will not count towards the luxury tax... so basically their salary is irrelevant since it does not count against the salary cap...
minnesota knows that it will not get a fair return when they trade kg... and they pretty much know that he doe snot want to stay there... so, they have to chose the lesser of the two evils and get something in return... and for that to happen salaries have to match... kind of like what the lakers did with shaq... its a no win situation... so the knicks are probably the best option... instead of letting kg walk, might as well get some young, up and coming talent in return...

so for the knicks, they will not be affected by kg's salary... coz basically they will pay him for example 28 million instead of paying curry and crawford 14 each... (the numbers are nt exact, just examples)

they passed this rule a few years ago.... due to the number of bloated salaries, teams were getting stuck with over paid players and did not have enough salary cap room.. its not like baseball where u can pay as much as you want... in the nba, there is a limit and if u cross it, u have to pay a luxury tax which is very high.... so a lot of teams... they are just buying the guy's contract out.... which means that they continue to pay their salaries, but that salary will not count on the salary cap... most notable salaries that were bought out (approximations of course):
alan houston 20 mil - knicks
webber 21 mil - 6ers
jalen rose 14 mil - knicks
finley 16 mil - mavs

Thanks for the info Samsara. I hope Steve Swindal will take over after Boss retirement. I haven't heard before regarding Dolan family having stake on Yankees. I thought they don't see eye to eye after YES saga.

Sleepyspur, I think H20 retired. Each teams were only allowed to bought out one player. I rem some sports pudnit were coining the term as Alan Houston Rule. But Knicks didn't exercise to buy out Houston contract since they knew he will be retiring. Knicks even could have gotten the money from Ins company for Injured Houston.

I perfect scenario for Farragut Academy superstar is Bulls. Bulls have many talented young players to offer. They could offer Ben Gordon, Nocioni, PJ Brown and Tyrus Thomas. Bulls will have a formidable lineup of Hinrich - Duhon - Deng - KG - Wallace.

It's a win-win situation for both teams.

Yah, thats a good idea... but, I think Minnesota will also want the bulls 07 draft choice (thanks to my knicks, it will be a high draft choice)... If I were John Paxon, I would give it all up. Only time I will not is if they get the overall first or second.

AX, KG in Bulls...That would be lethal!! BTW, Dolans do not have any stake in the Yanks as yet but as per ESPN reports a few days ago and the NY post too, the Dolans are said to be putting up an agressive bid for the Yanks from the Big Boss. Its all a business move for the Dolans who ultimately will end up alienating fans from ANY franchise they take over. And as for me, I've always supported the Mets ova the Yanks and also, once the Nets get here, I'm for da Brooklyn Nets all da way!!

Early trade speculation has Kevin Garnett leaving the Minnesota
Timberwolves. Certain sources have already reported that
Detroit offered Rasheed Wallace and Darko Milicic, yet Joe Dumars
denied the rumors. And unless the T-Wolves sincerely believed
that Darko was worth being sandwiched in the draft between
Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony, there is not a chance this
deal would happen.

Other destinations has KG headed to Indiana for Jermaine O’Neal
and Jamal Tinsley, to Golden State for Jason Richardson and
some young bigs, and to Los Angeles for Kwame Brown, Lamar
Odom and Chris Mihm.

However the strongest rumors have placed KG in New York.
While the Knicks do not have anything substantial to offer, and
yes Stephon Marbury is not substantial, most believe that this
rumor is the creation of agents hoping for the big bucks that
follow sponsorship dollars.

Regardless, the T-Wolves would be crazy to move KG. He may be
the best player in the NBA, and is certainly the most versatile
big. The T-Wolves should be surrounding KG with other stars and
not removing their biggest star.

Rumored to be on the block are Marbury, Peja Stoyakovic, Paul
Pierce and Chris Bosh.

Marbury has yet to show any team that they will be better with
him, as teams keep improving once he leaves (see New Jersey
and Phoenix). Expect the same of the Knicks if they are able to
unload their selfish star. One possibility has frustrated stars
switching places as Marbury could be sent to Orlando for Steve
Francis. Both teams may hope that a new situation will bring
better results.

Peja has often been linked to the Pacers for Ron Artest.
Sacramento could use the D and Indianapolis would like an
outside threat with a slightly better demeanor. This trade looked
possible a year ago before the Malice at the Palace, but now has
no chance as Artest is playing like an all-star and Peja is having
his worst shooting year. The T-Wolves could enter the rumors
and dangle Wally Szczerbiak, but that would not move either
team in any direction.

Quiet rumors have circled Paul Pierce for a few seasons now. He
is great player but the Celtics aren’t going anywhere with him.
General Manager Danny Ainge has stated his like for Lamar Odom
and suddenly the possibility of a three-way trade exists that
gives KG his running mate, Ainge his man and the Lakers a
change and cap room.

Pierce would go to the T-Wolves, Odom and Kwame Brown to the
Celtics, and Szczerbiak and Michael Olowokandi to the Lakers (a
few piecemeal players would be needed to satisfy the CBA).
Pierce would become the perfect second threat on the T-Wolves
and should be enough to win the division and keep KG happy.

Odom, who does not fit the triangle due to his inability to get
from the perimeter to the middle, would thrive in the East where
he does not have to face the power forwards of the West.
Brown, who has been reduced to learning how to catch and jump
in practices, already needs a new home and a hands-on coach,
something Doc Rivers and not Phil Jackson can do.

The Lakers would finally get that second shooter in Szczerbiak.
On a team that features Kobe Bryant shooting 30 times a game
and every other Laker afraid to take an important shot,
Szczerbiak would definitely hoist it up. Olowokandi is in the last
year of his contract, still shows flashes of talent that made him
the number one pick, and at the very least is a big body to clog
the middle.

Which leaves Chris Bosh, the most talented of those available.
Bosh has no desire to stay put in Toronto as losing will be the
norm for seasons to come. As the Raptors must choose between
losing their best player and get nothing or trade now to get some
value, they will obviously trade.

More rumors to come soon…
