HUMBLE REQUEST!
'Your one minute may become a great support for us'
Cooking fuels (fire wood, kerosene and L.P. gas) are always scarce and becoming a big issue because of frequent price hiking in Nepal – no matter whether the consumers are in mountains, hills, terai or in Kathmandu valley. Everywhere, they are facing a lot of hardships in managing cooking fuels for the family. Recently, government has hiked the price of kerosene (NRs.3.55) and L.P. gas (Rs.200) making poor community even poorer. If you wish to support us to solve this problem, please vote us NOW in "COOKING WITHOUT GAS" in http://www.theworldchallenge.co.uk/2007_finalists.php to create an alternative energy source for the community from our own wastes to reduce over-dependence on forest resources and commercial fuels.
Don't forget to watch a documentary film on "COOKING WITHOUT GAS" in BBC Channel as follows:
3rd November, 2007, Saturday: 0930 GMT (Nepal time 1515)
4th November, 2007, Sunday: 0330 GMT (Nepal time 0915);
1330 GMT (Nepal time 1915); and 1830 GMT (Nepal time 2415)
6th November, 2007, Tuesday: 1830 GMT (Nepal time 2415)
If we win this prestigiuos award, it would be a great achievement of our efforts and a great pride to all Nepali community in and outside the country. I hope your votes will definitely take us to top-3.

o.k. Duke, you are quite hard to learn.... Have you ever heard of "united we are stronger"? or "Alone, you only have one tiny little stone, but together we can build a mountain..." As you know I am from Holland. Well, we have our problems too, but whenever we need to stick together as a country UNITED we will be united. Have you ever seen the Olympic Games or a global sports competition, for example football (I assume you call it soccer in the States)? When our country is playing, where ever in the world, all the Dutch will be wearing orange, which is our national color. The whole stadium will be orange, the streets, the airports everywhere you will recognize the Dutch because they will ALL be wearing orange. This is to support our countrymen / sportsmen who are REPRESENTING our country. What you are doing Duke, is the same as if you would be asking the Dutch people to not wear orange, because you don't like the clothing brand. It is NOT about the clothing brand (and it's not about who organized the competition), it's about supporting your countryman who is an EXAMPLE to the rest of the world. He is REPRESENTING your country in a global competition, which will be seen by people all over the world. He is doing this in a great way and you should be proud of him.

see the hight of nepali disapora....a foreigner has to remind him of his country nationalism. I don't know where this moron Duke reside now ..but if he is in states then it is just pathetic to see the mental state of this people..this group represent bunch of crap of ugly mentality who don't like to move forward nor they like of innovation but instead just want to move backward and give excuse to everything. If you don't like and don't like to vote thats fine...cause everybody has their own opinion..just don't brain wash others with your evil thoughts and don't malign other with ur crooked craps. If this project stood first and as u say someone benefits also then so what.....at least thou deserves this ok....i think this thread is not for u..just quit this thread better...

I am sorry but I will only vote for the project which is deemed best. Just because I am Nepali does not mean that I should vote for a Nepali project, does it ? It is unethical to vote for a Nepali project without properly evaluating other project.

yeah nepali just because you are nepali you don't have to vote for nepali project no you don't, just because you are nepali you don't have to come to a nepali forum as there are many other much more intellectual or fun forums just because you are nepali you don't have to support nepali team in any games as other teams are much stronger just because you are nepali you don't have to say you are a nepali when obviously other countries are much better and advanced so you don't have to do anything

What I am seeing here is an organization that is helping Nepalese communities and Nepal, but people like Duke do not want to support it, maybe just because of the fact that Shell is sponsoring it. Mr Duke, hope you do not ride any cars or any short of vehicles that burn oils and good luck with living in this corporate world.

There are many things that are questionable, Pakandi. Is it ethical to vote for this project blindly just because it is done by Nepali ? Wonder what will be the reaction of the organiser if they come to know about this sort of stuff.
Anyway I am not gonna argue more about this stuff, it will go on and on like a dog chasing its own tail. You guys can judge me as you wish based on what I wrote but one thing is clear -don't you dare question my patroism. Lat but not least, I would like to ask : Do you have moral values and are you going to teach your children that one should always vote for someone who is related to you regardless of his capability ?
Good luck to SKS and the team. I am sure there will be plenty of email "flying" around just like when there was a poll done by BBC for the worlds most popular song.
Regards,
Rai (DUMI)

now where did moral values come from...its not about good or bad here.. do you even know what this voting is about..that bbc page has projects from around the world that deal with social, environmental and community issues... there are no right or wrong projects... every project is good and useful.. and two of the selected projects happen to be of nepal.. so one our nepali friend who initiated the project comes here to ask for our votes so that it would get recognization and help and could be carried out more effectively which will benefit our community in nepal so just vote for it damnit

Of course everybody has the right to chose to vote or not to vote and of course nobody should vote just because the person is from your country. You always, whenever you make a decision or make a vote, do some research before. That's why Sanu Kaji Shrestha is asking his humble request to read the website, do some research about his work and then if you support his work, if you agree with his actions, you can vote. The reason why I mentioned the Dutch wearing orange to support our countrymen, was to make a COMPARISON. Duke is telling people not to vote, because he doesn't like the companies (BBC World, Newsweek, Shell) who organized this global competition. It's like not wanting your sportsmen to win in the Olympics, because you don't like the people who organized it.... doesn't make any sense! As I said, it is like asking the Dutch not to wear orange colored clothing during international competitions, because you don't like the clothing brand, which is absurd. It's not about the clothing brand, it's about the color. The same with the World Challenge, it's not about who organized it, it's about Mr. Sanu Kaji Shrestha , founder of FoST, being chosen out of 947 nominations, now in the finals. And he needs your support. I can't believe that I have to spend my time explaining this.....

FOST, matter fact is there is no need for any explanation. I understand your enthusiasm pertaining to this project. I have already voted for a project after going each one of them. I gave my vote to the most deserving one, without showing any prejudice.
I know I am the odd one out, with completely different thinking here but I am not bothered at all.

Last chance to see Mr. Sanu Kaji Shrestha from FoST on BBC World for the World Challenge today (Tuesday 6th November)! It's at 18:30 GTM - check on the BBC World website for your local time. Don't miss it, it's very good.
