YoungsBloodz ...
I will not be surprised if the Mavs lose the series..and I wasn't even surprised yesterday when they squander'd a 12 point half time lead to a 12pt loss. Well... how many times have they done that this season. However, I do not think that they will lose a match in American Airlines Center where they have been so good this season.
Give full credit to Byron Scott for outcoaching Avery much like what so many coaches have done this season. I am so curious to listen to the Halftime locker room BHASAN that Avery gives. I think his strategy is more about protecting a lead than adding to it. Mavs are so much better when they play the run and gun Nelly style offense (which they did in the first half yesterday) rather than the isolation plays that makes Dirk n Kidd useless (2nd Half).
GO MAVS....!!

hi sahayog,
I think that the MAVS have the problem with their offence speically point gaurd, although they have a future hall of frame Jason Kidd.
The problem with them is that they ca't stop the PG or Power forward with their defence either he is CP3 or Kobe or Baron Davis or Dwane Wade. Thats why Kobe has always good record against MAVS although Dallas is know for its defencive play.Every time when opponent played good defence then they cant score, it happened last year with Warriors and Heat for 06 season. So they need the PG who can penetrate the opponent defence and go to the paint like what Parker and CP3 does regularly. Devin Harris was improving as good PG but with that trade now Dallas has no one who can penetrate the defense and go to the paint. All three Dirk, Terry, Howard are basically jump shooter so thats why they are facing problem this time and last time. On 06 with SPURS and 07 regular season Harrias has shown few good signs but Nelle has outscored them with small offense in the first round But I think that Cuban did wrong deal. Although KID is good PG and 3 pointer he is never tried to go to paint and thats why it is causing a problem

dd_sh,
I think they, the Mavs, have a pretty good roster. They have the second highest payroll of teams in the NBA, only behind NY Knicks. I was initially against the KIDD trade myself but due to some reason I think he is a greater asset to the team than Harris. He is better PG than Harris and spreads the floor much better. However, IMO sacrificing Diop, a big defensive inside presence, was where Cuban and his trade flawed.
Dampier always dissapoints and Mavs are better off with Bass as the Center than this him. They just need a scoring center like Shaq or Camby so that perimeter shooters like Dirk, Terry, Howard, Stack, Bass, Lue (heck thats a lot of jump shooters in the roster) can get open looks. They can atleast try trading Dampier with Howard or Terry for a big Center..
As I said another problem is Avery himself who is just so stubborn and can make no good substitutions or adjustments. He more than always runs the same play and is so predictable!!!

IMO, the Celtics this year have it real easy. Even though I despise that team (barring KG), it won't be a surprise if they win it all. Why? The West having all 8 teams having more than 50 regular season wins is gonna tire themselves out playing 7 game series for sure. I don't see a sweep coming through in their division. As for the Celts, they will pretty much steam roll their Eastern opponents into oblivion (except for the Pistons if they do make it). By the time the Finals come about, the West would be too exhausted to even compete against the Eastern Top Dogs. Just look at the playoff schedule and see how difficult it is for teams that go 7 games. The much needed rest and practice sessions make a lotta difference, especially during the playoffs.

Hello Samsara, actually Wizards and the Sixers could be quite a threat to the Celtics. But if they advance!!

I have some similar feeling as sahayog, Wining Eastern conference may not be a piece of cake for celtics (except hawks). Likes of Lebron James and hard fighters cavaliers can give a lot of headaches in the second round as they did in regular season remember!! ......And after that magic (which i believe will come from the other end) have a squad which can surprise any one. I reckon eastern is as tough as western conference this time.

Sahayog bro, after watching Philly beat Detroit on the road, I'd second your opinion. However, just seeing the stats that the Celts had against all the other Eastern teams during the regular season bases up my assumption I put forth earlier. Lets hope they do not turn out to be another '07 playoff Mavs...That was a pity.
