hmm... here are my some suggestions which might be helpful.

1. Find out which gate she will be landing in HK airport
2. Does she need to take boarding pass in HK ? If so, find out in which counter she should go.
3. Instruct her not to go beyond places where police are checking bags.
4. Printout 2-3 copies map of airport terminal of HK  and if you come to know the gate number by the time she leaves, make a mark of route where she should go.
5. She must know about signs of restrooms... if not, just show her while she is here so that it will be easy for her in HK.
6. My suggestion, don't wear ornaments if she is going alone.

Finally and the best idea which just struck my mind....

Call the airlines and ask to get a wheel chair for her... It is free of cost.  You don't need to pay anything...just give few tips to the wheelchair attendant (if you feel worthy). They will pick her up right infront of the gate where she lands.....This will be the BEST option for her.. wheelchair attendant will take care of everything...take her to counter, take her to correct gate....

so take wheelchair...

Thagu,

Here's what u can do. Ask the airline for a Wheel Chair - after u ask for a wheel chair service, it will be entirely the airline's responsibility to take you mom to her destination, i.e. NY's JFK. Starting from TIA to JFK and all the transits on the way, airline will provide her an associate with wheel chair who will receive her in the aircraft, take her to transit areas/lounges and hand her to someone (meaning the associate will not leave her by herself alone in whichever country the transits might be), be back to take her to her next flight, have all security & clearane checked/cleared for her and so on. So, be sure to ask for a wheer chair service directly with the airline - do that fast!

I dont suggest on finding out the airline terminal/gates in transit airports and all thats mentioned above as this will only confuse her! Also, do NOT give her airport maps, as authorities in the transit airports might think otherwise. Wheer chair service is the easiest, fastest, and the most secured way to go.

Good Luck!

I agree with Happyface. I did the same thing for my Mom. Everything went fine. You should do the same and she will be fine. Trust my words.

Thanks Happyface & Allegro for your suggestions but my Mom is not that old that require a wheel chair. She is just 59 years old & in good health. Does it make any difference? Do they still provide a wheel chair for a healthy person?

Thanks

both boarding passes are given in TIA, ask her to keep them safe..

check the HK airport website for the 'gates' few hours before the flight leaves TIA and communicate it to her atleast the no..if possible..

shouldn't be any problem, had my sister and kids come the same flights few months back..said was easy.

DONT GIVE HER MAPS..it gets TRICKY for no reason..u never know..the world isnt' that simple to think simple anymore.
