My story, I bought a core 2 duo laptop used  for 220, seemed very nice person and knowledgeable, assured never been dropped, and have never been a problem,   a clean vista premium operating system with anti virus, office 7 was installed. He was much more focused on showing me all the downloads and explaining them very well too. Once I arrived  home , somebody else found two missing screws in the back and the service tag was missing, the person has taken cash & I have only trail of emails because he asked me to meet in D'Donuts place.
What can I say, I was fooled or allured by his marketing capability( salesmanship), used car salesmen are know as butcher too.

So, have somebody with some knowledge, market price as well bargain capacity. You heard about 60 months free interest by Toyota? Get simple may be a standard car (last longer and you are the only person will be driving) like Corolla or Yaris. or Civic or Fit. Not trying to lower your standard but it will be  a good start.

Guru ji , if its your first car then go for it , coz it is always best idea to buy a old/cheaper car first. I used to drive honda civic 99 ex which was pretty nice , good gas mileage and price . i paid 3200 and was  108,000 miles. I was about to modifie it but couldn't got time and i bought new car. bro if you can modifie it with 16' black rims , air intake , muffler , xenon lights , body kit ...damn! boi it will look gorgeous ...( search in youtube ).

You haven't mentioned the gas millage , so its bit difficult to say whether it is best deal or not..

Also let see ( still their resale value is good )
 if its under 100,000( around 3000-4000 clean title )  then i say goo for it
if its salvage title with actual millage, then around ( 2500-3000 )

if its 100,000 - 130000 ( around 2500-3000 clean title ) then its good
if its salvage title then best price would be below 2500


i haven't seen the car and drove it so, still depends upon how it drive and mechanical problem.

so , yes brother if its ur first car and looking inside that price range then i will not say no.

if you like small cars, any coupe, sports car is good for you.  for 5'-5", 160 pound chilly, big trucks are totally not good. no one can see you from outside, seems like a ghost rider.

If you like to drive big cars, you can go upto some 6 cylinders sedans, like accord, camry, malibu, sonata, lancer, or something like that. Toyota Rav4 are good size, fitting car for you if you like zeeps.

with 10k, you can get a good condition used car from 1995-2003 under 100k mileage of the brands I mentioned above.

well,,you can further go in different websites, compare different cars online, do some research  and decide.

im selling my 1999 honda civic ex . here are a few facts:

it has a just under 128000 miles
it is a 5 speed manual transmission
has been kept up with on service dates
brakes were done in winter of this year
car has been kept in good condition and an oil service was done 2 months ago

We love to hear about the Voucher? Is it by federal or state government ? Can you explain in greater details or post web site so we would like to enjoy this voucher too. As I said I am selling my accord and trying to replace one with 2000 or newer.

Don't know about in another states. I know several people have used the voucher in DFW area. There are some restrictions apply for sure. Do more research.
