Can you please suggest really good Nepali movies?
I have heard Kagbeni and Sano Sansar are excellent. Agree? Are there more of same or better quality?

Kagbeni is a classic movie.. It gets more interesting as it goes. Movie is actually based upon an English Novel "Monkey claw" and its arguably the first Nepali thriller movie. Sano sansar is more like a tele-serial. lot of unnecessary scenes. so, u better skip some part if you wanna save time. thats what i did.. About old movies, Balidan and Prempinda are classic as well. I've heard Kanyadan, Muglan, and Numafung are good as well... All these movies are on youtube.

Thanks for your response. I really liked Numafung. I found Prempinda to be just so-so, imho.

old nepali movies are really good like Maitighar, Lahure, Chino.
New ones arent that well made - the newer new ones such as Kagbeni and Sano Sansar may lack a few things here and there but theyre a decent fare.
Sanjeevani is a good film, Dui Kinara by Tulsi Ghimire wud be a timepass. check it out on youtube.

Thanks friends.
I watched Saino when I was little. I remember it being very good. Many years later, I watched it again and found it quite lacking. I guess my taste changed with age. Plus, I just could not stand Bhuwan KC flicking his hair again and again.
It seems most of the Nepali movies nowadays follow the same formula as that of Indian melodramas. Perhaps, those are the kinds that make money in general market, but unfortunately, not my cup of tea. But are there any movies from home that break this "melodrama song-and-dance dhissum-dhissum" mold?

Kagbeni was indeed very good... even by Hollywood standard.
Sure there were few shortcomings. The pace of the movie could've been tightened up a bit, especially at the beginning. The soundtrack was quite monotonous in most parts.
But those shortcomings became negligible with many positive notes of the movie. Acting was above par by all, Nima Rumba shines here. He flows through the movie very naturally, even better than the main protagonist. Director did an awesome job storyboarding the plot. The camera work was beautiful and well edited.
This probably ranks higher than Numafung, which makes it #1 in my books.
