nas, i can't believe that you said that. i didn't expect that from you. but, you are right my friend, basic difference is hinduism is all about aatma or brahma-everything emerges from power of aatma-or-brahma but buddhism calls the same aatma as sunya-nothing-absolute void..

Are we really that much intelligent to deny or accept the existence of god except for our personal opinion? to accept the existence of god we have no evidence and deny its existence we have no evidence either. Our personal opinion always changes with time, We can not cite any religion as a proof because they are prejudice either towards its existence or towards its non existence. Yeah, we can discuss anything as a time pass.

Before you talk about so called 'God 'you need to define what is God? God of Christianity? God of Islam? God of Hinduism? Is God a personal God or just the God of gaps i.e, easy answer to whatever is unknown. When you make yourself clear in those things we can make progress on the business of proving or disapproving the Gods you believe in. For me Amongst these religions Buddhism is sounds better as it is much more closer to Atheism in its philosophy when it says that It does not matter whether there is God or not, it is you who have to work for your own salvation through your deeds or Karma.

I think Buddhism is refined Hinduism, i.e. Hinduism without caste system which disapproves animal sacrifice and seeks enlightenment through meditation without help of personified god.

Hinduism - blind faith. Buddhism - you have to experiment yourself and judge yourself about "TRUTH". That's why after 45 years of teaching, justbefore dying, Buddha asked (urged) his disciples to forget about all he had taught them. Nullify all those. You should not believe because something was told by your teacher, parents, or written in the book, sutra... you have to analyze yourself, and accept it only if it reasons to your thinking.

My personal opinion: Buddha was a rebel who challenged the brahman and vedic supremacy .and his discourse to his disciples became what is known to us as buddhism. he had no intention of having followers or starting a cult but it was just like all other yogis/tapaswais of his time-sharing personal experience and discoveries. he challenged the concept of saguna(with form/character) god but still believed on gods nirguna aspect. To attain nirvana and to get mokshya by uniting with the parabrahma is the same.Have ur say.

There is no God. If there was he would not let people murder each other in his expense. Hinduism Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity they are no different. Why do people goto pray to god ? It is always either somethng they want or to get forgiveness for something they did. Now how selfish is that ? We as humans created god for our own convenience. Granted there is something out there but I would not define it as God As We Know Today. If you did nothing wrong and are satisfied with your life ... there is no need for you to goto a temple, church, or a mosque.
