If you could not immigrate to Canada... don't get sorry at all. Just think about this, this should make you feel good about not being able to immigrate to Canada anyways.  GOOD LUCK

Hi All,

Seems
like you guys know a lot about Canadian immigration, I felt like
dropping few of my confusion. I'm planning to apply for Canadian PR
through AINP program. I'm in H1B status. I just got married few years
back and my wife is out of status currently since last 7 years.
Browsing through the IME008 forms, I found I need to fill up her status
too. How will this affect the whole process? Have anyone gone through
same situation ? Any suggestions? I've found some of the forums
bragging that they are almost sure my spouse status does not affect the
whole process. Is it true?

Thanks

we just got our canadian PR approved last week. We applied two years ago. we also did not have hope but it finally came.So guys, hang tight, it will come.

Right now I am on student visa and will start OPT from June. As the paper said, we have to land there before June... I will be on OPT status at that time. I need to get F1 stamps in my password in CANADA. I have no idea how that is going to work in my situation. Has anyone been that situaion. Will ameican embassy grant me F1 status while I am on OPT. we worked so hard to get this PR but we are not planning to to go right away. Has anyone been in that situation. ?? any sugession would help.

thanks

Yes.. I have seen people done that.

Did yo just use your passport or you submitted english version of the birth-certificate from Nagarpalika? These days Nagarpalika of Kathamndu, Lalitpur issue english version of your birth-certificate based on your citizenship card. But they need to see the tax payment slip of your residential house. Overall it's not that hard to get it.

In my time, they never asked for birth certificate.. just passport photocopies did the job. Probably not now.

thanks,

I do not know the rule now but when I applied 2 years back, I only submitted copy of my passport and police report from Nepal and other necessary documents as per the requirement. Hope this helps.

They assume that without birth-certificate or citizenship (which also has birthdate) a passport cannot be issued.  Therefore, passport copies is considered as your birth-certificate !!!

If you have PR.... it doesn't mean that you can freely go to those countries where canadian citizens can go without visa.. not true.. you still will be carrying your nepali passport... and the rule for Nepalese still applied to you. But your PR of Canada might help in securing the visas, I guess.

It doesn't matter whoand where  I am...  Consider I do not exist.... :-)

Hi Snowfed (river?):

Yeah, once you get the citizenship of Canada/USA.. you can take that country's passport to travel freely without visa to only those countries which do not impose visa for that citizenship. Say, if you have to go to India, you still have to obtain visa although you were indian citizen prior to taking up this new citizenship of USA/Canada.

Regarding birth-certificate.... if you don;t have... I would suggest you write a note saying that you are using passport in lieu of birth certificate, and you cannot obtain birth-certificate unless you travel back to Nepal to obtain one.

Well for photos, you better stick to the specifications they have provided.. take that page and give it to the photographer and he should be able to prepare for your accordingly.

Yeah, they are giving pain in the neck, the police clearance certificate must be withing 3 months...

have you got the ones from NEpal? Go to Nepal Police website... they have all information required and applications forms as well (in word documents). Here is the link:

http://www.nepalpolice.gov.np/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=179&Itemid=93

Well, they actually provide "Character Certificate" not the "Police Clearance Certificate".. but that's equivalent !! Remember, you have to fill your details in the character certificate yourself and take the rpinted copy (at least two) to Naxal. They only stamp it. Make sure you print it in color to !!

If you are delegating your relative to apply for you.. he has to fill up his details as well. Anyways you will understand what is involved in this process!
