guys i just opened the brokerage account with scottrade. how do i begin initial investment?
how secured are  medical and pharmaceutical companies? 
which companies should i go for? can u please help me in this....

just wait it out a couple of days ....let the market settle down a bit

First, link your bank account to scottrade account and deposit money there.
Second, goto the TRADE page and enter the amount of shares you want and the company you like.
Put market order (whatever the price is at the time of order) or limit order (your price) and start trading.

wait until EU crisis settles, then you can pick anything you want.

starting with financials. but i would recommend any blue chips companies that have dropped significently in recent days if you want to play safe with your money. but right now, do not touch FINANCIAL STOCKS.
