All histories are tainted, it is upto us to acknowledge it, give the respect due and vow not to repeat the mistakes - not outrightly reject it or destroy it. Our present, and future, stands in the foundation of our history. You wouldn't be a Nepali, if it wasn't for our forefathers - including not just the Kings, but also the Kajis, chautaras, sipahis, kisaan, shudras and so on.

I agree with people who support the conservation of our civilization. I do not support king. They were all tyrant. But this does not mean some one can go and damage any national heritages.
I do not like today's PM. He keeps bull shitting. So, do I go to his home and say you are removed from the history. I cannot say he is not the PM of Nepal. Or I cannot remove him from the history saying that Oli was never the PM of Nepal.
What we need to think is our past does not make our future but it shapes our future. The values and culture shapes us to the future. We need to be proud nation with the glorious history. We need to understand our history. Read it and try not to repeat the same mistake.
The reality is Nepal was once ruled by King. We were proud nation. We were independent. And the reason we are a nation is because of our history which is made up of king. We need to respect.
Last thing: If yo cannot respect your history, you basically cannot respect your elders.

I don't care if I am nepali or not, in this day and age, we're world citizen , earth is our home and these boundaries sketched by selfish morons calling themselves leaders created the concept of nations and here we fools are killing each others in the name of that very notion. If there were lifes in all planets of our solar system, and if we were inter-planetary civilizations(as per physicist Michio kaku we are still type 0 Civilization, type I civilization would be inter-planetary), we wouldn't have second thought calling ourselves earthlings, not nepali, american, chinese or russian. With good stare down, my answer will always be 'earthling'. There is nothing to be proud of if Mr everest is in Nepal or not, if Buddha is born in Nepal or not, it's part of an earth and buddha was an enlightened human born as earthling. I sometimes hate to be the part of society as moronic as that.

Did french destroy the palace of Versailles? French kings were notorious for keeping their peasants poor by hefty taxes while living in one of the most lavish palaces in the world.French revolution was the bloodies of all revolutions and that changed the entire western civilization. France is dotted with many palaces and castles that are still well preserved. Why? Because it is their history. It is an integral part of their country. You've got to know where you come from to know where you are heading so that you don't end up going in circles and arrive at the same place where you started. Besides french generate tons of tourist revenues from their palaces.

No clue on how things are done in Europe, but in North America regardless these historical sites are large or small, very old or more recent, most of them are preserved by partnerships between governments (local, state, provincial, federal etc) and private citizens/volunteers/non-govt. foundations.

These ladies are one of many examples of such partnerships.

Without physics there would be no chemistry, without chemistry there would be no biology and without biology there would be no people to ask these questions (and of course fight over it)

In human timescales it is very reasonable to say that I come from this country or that country or I belong to this race or that race however in vast timescales and vast distances these notions look amazingly absurd.
