I am trying to convert .wmv to vcd or dvd but did not find and free softwares...does anyone know of such softwares. would highly appreciate it.

i have used nero to that before... so, may be that's your choice. There is adobe premiere, with which you can do just about anything. you can download the pro version via p2p wares such as limewire or bearshare. adobe premiere is the best choice if you have sufficient hardware.

if you go to download.com and search for "wmv to vcd" you'll seee a list. the second on the list is called: "WMV to VCD SVCD DVD Converter 2", which'll cost you 19.99 unless you want the reminder message up all teh time whenver you load the app. You are tyring to use it for free so, who cares about the message.

Ya Nero is way to go. As easy as a click.

I used a lesser known but free software called Tmpgenc last year. Makes MPEG-1 in either PAL/NTSC. Not the easiest software to use, but it's free and does what it's supposed to do. I was happy with it...

Not sure if it took wmv as input tho. I might have had to convert wmv into AVI first.
