Yes, modernism is a vast subject to write, so you will have to narrow down your topic. Choose one aspect of modernism that you feel comfortable on writing.

For example, let’s say you are to write about the game of table tennis. You can write so many things about table tennis that you could easily get lost. So you only choose specific aspect of table tennis. You can choose to write about the ping-pong ball only. How big is the ping pong ball, how much does it weight, what is it made of or how it is made and how it fast it travels etc etc.… does it make sense??? Maybe others have more suggestions for you.
