Guys/Gals: I am planning to travel to Nepal via Thailand on May 15 with a child. I am Nepali citizen but the child is US citizen. I heard that I need to get a Visa for Thailand. ANyone has any info on this ? The travel agent is taking time to get back to me and I thought I could get some help from people here. I know it was not required as of July 2006. Don't know if it has changed since then. Thanks,

If you have no plan to go out from the airport transit in Bangkok visa is not required. If you are going out from the airport transit, as a Nepali citizen, you have to have visa before visit to Thailand. Since your son is US citizen he may get visa in the airport (please check Thailand immigration web site).

Thanks. My travel agent also told me the same thing. Transit nepali passengers DO NOT REQUIRE visa in Thailand. But if you travel via Hong Kong, you need one (if you are Nepali citizen...that I know for the fact.).

One restriction may apply, Normally it doesn't happen but, if your transit time is over 24 hours, you may require visa. Check out for that just to be sure.
