Fresh appointments in varsities very soon, says education minister

KATHMANDU, April 21 - The vacant posts in different universities will be filled soon as per an agreement reached among the major ruling parties during their recent meet.
Minister for Education and Sport Pradip Nepal on Saturday said that the major ruling parties have agreed on a fresh decision on 'who-gets-what-and-where' and that the appointment process will begin "soon".

Four universities – Tribhuvan University, Purbanchal University, Pokhara University and Nepal Sanskrit University – had key positions vacant for a long time as the parties were unable to hammer out a deal on portfolio distribution.

As per the agreement, the CPN-UML will have officials in Tribhuvan University, the Nepali Congress will have officials in Purbanchal University and the NC-D will have in the Nepal Sanskrit University.

The CPN-M, a major power-sharer in the ruling coalition interim government, has Pokhara University in its kitty.

Minister Nepal informed that the appointment procedures will begin from Monday. Minister Nepal said a three-member committee will be formed to recommend the names following the receipt of a directive letter from the prime minister and that as per the committee's recommendation, the officials in the respective universities will be appointed. The education minister also informed that the officials will be appointed within a week from the date the appointment process begins.

The universities have empty chairs including that of vice-chancellor and other key officials, which had affected academic as well as administrative functioning in the universities.

Minister Nepal earlier had said that he would resign if the officials in the universities were not appointed within a month of assuming the education portfolio.

He was appointed Minister for Education and Sports on April 1, the day the interim government including the Maoists was formed.

NC (D) -------------->Nepal Sanskrit University.They changed the name from Mahedra to Nepal now..amazing!! After all we have to eradicate the "KING" icon from history books .

And Pokhara University under Maoists Bag -----------> Revolutionary change in curiculum to be expected with maoism as a mandotary subject for every major


Thats just a thought. SPAM is doing a very good job in sharing issues be it be power or anything else!!

?????????????? differen t parties in different universty? guys this is unjustice and no educational institute shall b influenced by politics. universities are not the political playground? Guys we must protest againt it. These parties gonna distribute all the lands and rivers between the parties. people, Dhobi's ko dog, i better say.

It is unfortunate that our so called leaders are still doing party politics in Universities. Only the person who is best qualified and and most capable sould become VC not the corrupt politicians. Why can't they advertise and select the best candidate irrespective of candidate's political affiliation?

It is really disappointing to see the shameless act of the parties. I suggest everyone to affiliate to a political party ASAP if they want to progress in their lives. Don't think that the day is far when anyone will ever get a job, any job, without the consent and meddling of damn parties.
