Nepal blocks Everest ascent for 10 days

At the request of Chinese government, Nepal is set to block access to Mt Everest in first week of May to prevent anti-China protests while China takes the Olympic torch to the top of the Everest.

Everest climbers will be denied access to the Himalayas from May 1 to May 10, say agency reports.

China had earlier announced that it had blocked the northern face of the Everest until May 10 due to overcrowding and environmental pressures and had also requested Nepal government to block access during the period.

The early May is generally a period when many expedition teams attempt to scale the Everest.

Usually, southern approach of the Everest becomes impassable after late May due to melting Khumbu icefalls outside base camp.

Tour operators have been instructed to be extra vigilant of expedition teams scheduled to climb the mountain before May 1, allowing only climbers who are known to the operators. nepalnews.com ia Mar 14 08

There goes thousands of dollars worth of revenue down the tube.

Is the Chinese government willing to compensate this loss??

What a shame!

Screw the Chinese, they are scared of  the world would protest against, asking international professionals to sign a contract not to comment on their HUMAN RIGHTS issues. Why the hell are we blocking the access to the Mt Everest. Chinese are dirty MOFOs!!!!! Most of the major cities in China are highly polluted, Chinese people lack politeness and are very rude.

Sajha was being used as a good place to talk about India and Indians and always we tried to show everything related to India in a bad light. But, I think, now, a different change has swept Sajha and we started digging out China for no reason.

May be this topic is influenced by those who have sympathy towards buddhists, and Tibetan Refugees in Nepal and China, but it does not serve any great purpose to fight for independent Tibet. It is not good for Tibet, World Politics and even to Nepal as there is every chance that India can manipulate Tibetans if it becomes independence and nepal will be sorrounded by India from all sides.

Now, I do not find anything wrong by closing Mt. Everest for ten days as it is done for a very short period and to help our great neighbour.
The little service Nepal has done to China as compared to Chinese who have helped Nepal by various aids, is nothing. I think we feel shame to ask for any compensation from china for any revenue loss by closing Mt. Everest. We need to make our heart bit open and be ready to help our great neighbour.

SAJHA LAWYER,

What has China done for Nepal that we should be providing this service for free to China ?

And what do you mean by its does not serve any great purpose to fight for independent TIBET rey ? he he he AND WHY IS THAT ?

And it is not good for Tibet oe World Politics rey ? ha ha ha NAHASA NA AYY GADHA !!! One day you will come and say the same shit to Nepal if India or China wants to Engulf NEpal too then huh !! That it would not serve the Nepali people interest to fight the bullys then huh ? he he Gadha justo kura nagar na ayy !!! That too world politics rey ...ha ha ha Katti nai expert nai justo. ha ha ha First of all China will NEVER give up Tibet so India can take it. That is just your skewed imagination.

You do not find anything wrong with closing the summit for 10 days rey ? Tomorrow China will start asking Nepal to hand over all the Tibetan refugees too and you will hand them a silver platter then ? he he Man Tyo gadha justo kura nagar ta. Nepal is a sovergn country. Its up to us to do what we want to do with our country...not CHINA NOT INDIA OR ANYONE ELSE BUT NEPALI PEOPLE WILL MAKE NEPAL'S DECISIONS.

What Aid ? Just because someone gives you aid does not mean we have to do what they tell us. TYO TA NEPAL DESH LAI NAI GHUSH KWAYAYKO JUST BHAYO. Just because Japan gives us aid doesnot mean Nepali people have to bow down to the Japanese Emperor. NO IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY. he he he

I DO NOT NEED TO OPEN OUR HEARTS FOR ANY NEIGHBOR BUT TO OUR OWN NEPALI DAJU BHAI AND DIDI BAHINI.

Most of the Chinese don't even know where their good neighbor Nepal is located... I don't think that the Chinese have done any charity work in Nepal that we should be so thankful for. We actually have been ripped off by China as well as India.

It's true that China has helped Nepal in many ways. And I am thankful for that. But it does not mean that we have to bow down to each and every demand they put forward. Did you read the articles and pictures posted earlier, where you could see Chinese officials giving out orders to the Nepalese police? How would you feel, Sajha lawyer, if you saw Indian officials doing the same?I'm sure you'd be outraged. But when the Chinese do this, you are fine with it.

And in a different post,Sajha lawyer, you had mentioned that the Tibetans were mixing religion with politics.I don't know where you get this idea.Is fighting for basic human rights, fighting against oppression, freedom of speech, freedom of religion considered politics? Also I don't see anywhere where they were placing their demands based on religion.

If(that is IF) the US government decides to ban abortion based on the belief that abortion is anti-Christian, then THAT is considered mixing politics with religion.

The help China is providing Nepal is not genuine at all. They did it for purpose ...n that is to control Nepal. They are intentionaly helping at current time so they get the benefit for the lifetime. The land of Buddha has been sold to atheist China
