Hi,
I am trying to schedule a maintainance plan for database backups.
1. Do Full backup every day @9am
2. Do differential backup every 1 hour. So, my first differential would be @10am
3. Do transactional log backup every 15 mins. So, my first tlog backup would be @10:15am.

I know i scheduled the fullbackups correctly. I am not sure about differential and tlog backups

Diffrential: occurs every 1 hour, first  starting at: 10am, ending at 9am. (so does it stop tomorrow at 9am and starts a new one at 10am tomorrow and thus makes backups every 1 hour?)

Transactional: occurs every 15 mins, first starting at 10:15am, ending at 10am. (same thing here, when i say ending at 10am, does it end 10am tomorrow?. and then start again at 10:15am tomorrow and thus makes backup every 15 mins?)

I have attatched the screenshots of how i scheduled my backups of full, differential and tlogs. Your help appreciated.

I remember doing this long time ago. I have something to say about it.

1. Full back up and T LOG is fine for most of the case. Why are you doing Full backup and differential backup both? Full backup is good for small database but if you have large database and you are doing over network, differential backup is fine.

2. I noticed your backup time and it looks odd to me. Generally backups are done at night (after all jobs are committed during day work).

It is just my experience and may not match with you though.

Regards,
UM3$H
