try Nepali Young Professional in New York in Facebook. most of the folks in that group live in NY/NJ area. it would be easy if you give some info on your background.

What exactly do you need help with? Your easiest option is to go to Indian market by Journal Square (Newark Avenue) where you will find tens of apartment advertisements. The closer you get to JSQ or Grove Street stations, the more expensive the units get. There's a big group of Nepali students at St. Peter's College in Jersey City but all of them live on campus and won't be of much help; the others are scattered to be of immediate help.

As somebody mentioned above, your best bet would be to go to the Indian market on Newark Avenue and look for fliers that are posted on the walls of the stores that advertise rooms for rent.
Somebody from "Friends of Nepal, New Jersey" organization might be able to help too. The link is in one of the posts above. Send an email to the site owner.
Alternatively, you could look for a room in Jackson Height, Queens, NY. There are lots of Nepali living there. Again, you should go there and look for the fliers posted on the store walls.
Good luck.

Hi Kriti, I do not know where you work in NYC. Actually i work in NYC and my commute is only 20 mins. If you are thinking of sharing apartment then you should look for Nepali living in Jackson Height. If you want to move to NJ then you definately need a car. As Riten said you can send an email and give a try. Good luck

There are "PATH" trains (just like NY subway) that run from Newark or Hoboken to reach 33rd St. or World Trade Center in Manhattan and the commute is really quick. Active members of FONNJ do not live around Jersey City, they all live in the suburbs. If you go to Indian Market by Journal Square (Newark Avenue), there are a lot of Nepali dais at Rasoi Indian restaurant and few didis at the local Beauty Parlors/Hair Salons. They will have a better idea. Good luck.
