Im trying to get a drivers license in Maryland however mero F-1 status is OUT. SS card cha. Expired drivers license cha but from another state. Will they ask me for an I-20 when i go in to the DMV? Any help on this issue would be much appreciated.

Yes, they will ask you I-20 or any other US legal documents that permits you to stay in USA.

 Thank you for the quick reply. On their website it does not state that you need an I-20 though. Just a passport with visa(expired or un-expired) and I-94. Has anyone had this experience?

YOu definately need I-20 because that is the document which lets you stay legally in US not your visa. I need to renew my licence every year and I need a valid I-20 everytime (although my visa has expired). I just answered to your post since you wanted someone else to reply besides ans bro !!!

U need to prove your residence, and your legality to stay here. You have to demonstrate the latter via I-20, VISA etc.

Some state such as Washington(WA) do nor require I20 while getting  Driving License. They give you license for 5yrs.
There are few more states that does same- issue DL without i20 .

if you are eligible to renew it online do that. they wont ask you to open ur web cam and show them you valid i-20.

When i transfered my out of state Licence to MA about 4 yrs ago, they asked me for I-20, I had not carried with me, had SS card, Out of State licence and passport (valid Visa then), I told them, i did not carry (I was waiting EAD card, but did not tell them anything), then she went to talk with her BOSS, came back made copy of passport pages and went to check her BOSS again, that took her about good 15 minute and came back to say they varified status using their system and gave me the copies of passport she had made. I was issued a Licence for 5 years from Original Out of state one (means same as that of the original).
Just last Month I renewed mine again from MA online, of course there did not come any issues about I-20's, Passports and it is valid for next 5 years. (I am still on F1 status)
So, definitely online is the way to go, if you have to use your passport as one form of Identity. If you can use other forms of IDentities as required and hide your passport, you might be fine.
I one one guy, who renewed his Licence last year using Fake SS card (valid SSN but Fake Card, that was made long back) and his original Driver's Licence, as All they ask is Valid SSN, 2 forms of Identity and signature confirmation.

Why dont you get it from your own State online.

if you have social no , addreress in maryland with and passport with visa then you will get driver licence. I know you can get licence in maryland with those things. but you wont be able to get in VA or in DC

 Thank you everyone for your replies. I am very confused now. I tried calling the MVA but the number had a busy tone the entire day. Unbelievable.  In response to kakakul, i cannot renew it from my original state because it has "not a US citizen" in red on it. Damn you OSAMA. May you eternally rot in hell.
