Hi Friends, 
I am already in US working in H1b Visa. I am few of the fortunates to get selected in the DV Lottery 2012. I am not sure what should be my next steps. I understand I have to apply for change of status once I get the confirmation letter from USCIS. I am not sure what are the requirement for that, what are the required documents. 

I f any of the sajha users could share their experience in similar situation it will be very helpful.

 How deep is your case number? It depends on when they will release the visa for your lot, you can check on the visa bulletin section of USCIS.

pardon my ignorance in this matter but I am not sure what should I be looking at. I am not aware how to identify that with the case number.

 Your case number starts from AS00.... look out on your confirmation thing.

 My case number is something like 2012AS00058911. How do I relate this information with the USCIS bulletin and how do I know if it is current and what after that?

As you can see in the visa bulletin section of the USCIS, the case number being processed for Asia with (AS00..) is around 39000 in August for DV 2011. They have selddom processed visa numbers that are after 40,000 recently. So it is very unlikely that your case will be further processed for a visa number, it will most likely saturate before that.
I am sorry to say it, but you may not have a chance. But you will have to wait till next year to see how many will be processed, look in the visa bulletin or wait for the second letter from KCC.

      Please note that  visa bulletin for 2011 September says current for Asia  and all region which was also the case for 2010.Based on processing of last couple of years,I see your chance but your interview probably be in 2012 September. This is just a prediction on history and there is no way we will know until next year..

 HI, I am not sure what does the numbers in visa bulletin mean. There are two sections for DV  based immigrants and for august one has number around 39K and another section says current. What does that mean and how are these things relevant to me? 

I am a newbee in this case. Please explain in laymann terms..

For month of August it is 39K Plus and for September it is Current. Since you have high case number, When it says Current i.e Visa is available to all who are eligible--so that is significant to your case.

I am not a DV expert though!!
