I was just curious as one of my indian friend got sponsored from his Maternal uncle(mama) for his greencard and got aproved (thats what  he says). Can anyone in USA in any other visa status(f1 or H1) be sponsored by their first blood relative like mama, kaka, fupu? If possible what is the process or if there is any link I can find out from please let me know. Thank you.
Jay Nepal

I think some indians call their mother as 'mama'. So may be it his/her mom who sponsored.

मरेको धोतीले जिउंदो नेपालीलाई ठगिदिन्छ भनेको ठिकै रहेछ। धोतीले चिल्ली नै उडाइ दिएछ जस्तो छ साथीको।

Family/Relative Petition by:
1. Spouse  - best of best  > If US Citizen > takes average of 6 months. for PR > 3 years
2. Mom or Dad - better > If US Citizen and the beneficiary is less than 18 years old, takes 6 months. else takes 3 years for unmarried and 4 years for married.
3. Siblings - good  > must be a citizen to petition.. and it takes about 5 years and more depending on the Priority date which keeps changing either way.
Period

Other way around:
MAMA can petition for your AAMA

once your AAMA becomes citizen or PR > she can file for you...
that would take total of 16 to 18 years...
