Fellow Nepali brothers and sisters home and abroad, 
      I have a deep worry that our society and culture as we know is heading towards degradation. My main worry is christians going to the poor and vulnerable people's home and evangelising. Spreading wrong hateful ideas. I have no problem with any religion (including christianity). But, I am afraid our freedom are going to be jeapardy if this tread in the growth of christianity continues.
       We have legal abortion, hopefully gay marriage,  excellent science curriculum (including evolution and origin of life and universe) etc. and all other human rights but with extremist christian ideas flourishing in our society, we can be in deep trouble. I think we need to start spreading words about this insiduos effect on our society. Take a look at the laws the western christians passed in Uganda (Killing homosexuals). We want a free open nepal. 
     Christianity/Islam is nothing but a big business. Please share your words. 



I believe in evolution!!! If any of you don't believe in evolution don't reply to this thread.

 Also, there is no one that hates women more than christian and Islam god.

One more example is Hesus (aka "the son of god" hehe) walking in water (too funny). I think he must have been the best Jew surfer of his time He never sank in the ocean, ( assuming he ever existed.)

 Not just threat to nepali community but to the entire world's progress, future and humanity. Trying to drag us down to -2000 Years or even further back to stone age. Slowing down every single scientific progress you can imagine. But again most people are stupid and gullible. They claim to have seen or felt some imaginary friend from heaven. What can you do. 
I wish I could start a campaign about truth about these religions in nepal. But again the religious zealots would probably stone me to death because god gave them right to kill or punish the non-believers.

It is one thing to denounce something and completely another to poke fun at it.

Like it or not, there is a small number of NEPALI's who are Christians. Then there's another small group who are ATHIESTS. The athiests are usually the louder of the group and are quick to ridicule other religions.

Reason is a strong motivator but is useless without the guidance of the heart.

The so called Jesuits you are talking about give up their worldly possessions so that they can feed/clothe people who can't even do that. Personally, I feel they have the wierdest rules and beliefs but again I also see them as doing something helpful; contributing. Who to call disillusioned: the Jesuit who who believes his is the ONLY god and their way is the ONLY way, or, a person who ridicules them without an understanding of the context they are working with?

You mention we have legal abortion, gay marriage, and a science curriculum to be proud of. I doubt this could have flourished without initiation and help of 'foreigners' many of whom, are your oh-so-despicable Christians.

There's going to be extremists in any society/religion. I think the first thing we need to do is not just social reform of any kind, but mental reform. We need to broaden our outlook to include an understanding of US with respect to the WORLD. Without understanding what is going on around us, and WHY it is going on, the decisions we take will be similar to the decisions that a drugged fighterplane pilot might take. Without this situational awareness, the things we choose will purely be out of superstition or of speculation. 

And how exactly does one start this sort of reform of the subconciousness? By reading. By discussing. We need to educate ourselves.

I was just thinking about christianity and what few people here have written and I have reached a very interesting conclusions.

The religion that is directly related to or with the killings of most human beings in the world = Christianity

Namely, Hitler was brought up a Christian
In todays perspective the US Govt which is a firm proponent of Christianity has been involved in ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands muslims all over the world.

I haven't cared much of religion but this makes me questions what kind of god they have in Christianity that makes his follower commit  genocides after genocides?

 This issue have been bothering me a lot. I was quite surprised to see number of Christains surging in my town. Almost all of the converts are the ones who is struggling to meet their ends and from the so called "lower caste". When I went home, I was talking with one of the converts and he said "we have a new God 'Yesu' (thats what they say in Nepali) and he still has tika in his fore head. These missionary ppl are targeting the most vulnerable people in our society and convert their religions.
I feel sorry for Nepali ppl including me coz we think 'calling ourselves' atheist is a matter or pride. Donot forget guys Hinduism is an ethnic religion so it is a way of life. You may not go to temple every week but you can still practice Hinduism. What I wanna say to those folks who say "I am an atheist", "Donot celebrate Dashain, Tihar, nothing. Do not put your head in the feet of your parents. Deny to put the tika on your forehead when your mom is about to bid you farewell when your leaving home." Can you do that? I just think most of us left home quite early and are confused about our culture. Remember guys its not cool to forget and leave behind what we have coz we wont realize how important it is until we loose it and the day we loose it we cant revert back. 
To sum up: HINDUISM = Our Culture + Tradition. What makes Nepal peculiar is its culture and tradition. The day its culture and tradition fades away the whole country fades away from the eyes of everybody. 
   

@busenitz i agree with your first half part!!! :p and about denying to put tika on your forehead!!! i would do that too!!! i barely put it and everytime i deny it my mom goes on her long speech!!! its just that i do it for her happiness!!! i go to temples too but not because i want to because my parents would be sad if i don't!! i have my own views on god but i will keep aside my faith for my parents happiness!!! and yeah i don't have anything for people who follows religion properly and do according to it.. but i bet none of the people are following exactly what they are supposed to be doing.. america ma aune bittekaiii beef khancha and they call me ridicule for not believing me in god!! is that what the hinduism taught ?? hypocrites ??? i always believed in my karma is better than your dogma !!!!:p

Who says Buddhism is not a religion? Hinduism and Buddhism are not same. That whole thinking mentality and bias attitude towards other communities are the greatest threat to Nepal. Actually it is threat to those who feel threatened. For too long, they enjoyed their monopolies and treated others like untouchable.

lets give few examples.

1. Govt collects $1000 per tourist to visit upper mustang. Even though govt promised to donate 60% of fee collected, mustangi has not received any money.
2. Look at Lumbini. Govt uses Lumbini and Buddhism as a begging bowl when leader goes overseas. There is no representation at higher level. All the donation god know where it goes.

 @Karma, I understand your frustration. But we have a bigger problem at our hands. So called "Christ lovers" are causing unrepairable fragments in our society. Their ancient cave man/women thinking is going to make our society living hell.  
    We are trying to talk about religious tolorence among people. Hindus and buddhist are much more tolerant among each other. 


Do not let them ruin our bright future. They want us to go back to dark ages. They want to control our sexuality and enslave our women. 

Also someone said in earlier thread that christians fought for gay rights, science education and abortion issues in Nepal. Are you insane ? The only things these fking christards have done in Nepal is molest our young vulnerable young kids. No wonder they don't like abortion, they want to molest these unwanted kids after and if they ever are delivered alive. 

Evolution is a theory last time i checked .. So it mean its a theory there is no proof of it.. i have a theory that you came from a kangaroo ..i know u are smart enough to believe it....

Last time I checked religion was a story. I'd rather believe in a plausible theory than some make believe stories.

Learn what it mean to be a scientific theory before saying ignorant shit here. Evolution is a theory not a conjecture or hypothesis. Evolution has been proved by all the fossil evidence and overbearing DNA evidence also. Learn more before you speak.
