I am trying to get information on how to apply for H1B. I have a company who wants to file for me but do not know much about this. i heard the job postings are required. is it needed or are their any other ways to not have to post the job on local newspapers? Your brief information would be a great help. thanks.

3 possible options:

1. If You have a job Via Consultancy: Gather and provide the documents as requested by your Consultancy.
2. If you dont have a job and your consultancy wants to file for H1B: Gather and provide the documents as requested by your Consultancy.
3. If you have a direct Job ( w/o any intermediate Consultancy/Recruiters): Gather and provide the documents as requested by your Company.

NOTE: You dont have to pay from your pocket to file H1B. However, in some cases you might have to ( esp for #2). I'd  definitely want the Consultancy to pay for it. Its upto you how you negotiate your deal.

I know for sure it is the case for GreenCard processing.
I'm not quite sure if they really have to post a job in the newspaper for filing a H1B.  However, it's not your concern and you dont have to worry about all the hassle.
Just talk to the HR folks / associated lawyer of your company and follow whatever they say and provide the documents accordingly.

It is not required for h1b. They should post the information in notice board to lt all the employees know that h1b will be working with them.
